What to Build
The possibilities are endless! Participants are encouraged to think creatively and develop projects that have the potential to make a positive impact on the city and its residents. Participants should build innovative projects that leverage technology to address specific challenges or opportunities in Chicago. These projects should be relevant to urban environments and community needs, considering the local context, culture, and demographics of the city. Projects should aim to have a tangible, positive impact on Chicago and its residents, focusing on areas such as smart city solutions, community engagement, urban sustainability, cultural preservation, public health, education, and civic tech. Collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to solving real-world problems should be central to the development process.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection
Impact & Relevance: Projects will be evaluated based on their potential impact on addressing challenges or opportunities in Chicago. Judges will consider the significance of the problem being addressed, the potential positive outcomes for the community, and the scalability of the solution.
Execution: Judges will review the technical implementation of the project, assessing factors such as functionality, performance, and robustness. They'll look for well-designed, well-implemented solutions that demonstrate technical proficiency.
Feasibility: Judges will evaluate the feasibility of the project, considering factors such as technical feasibility, resource requirements, and potential barriers to implementation. They'll assess whether the project is realistic and achievable within a reasonable timeframe.
Creativity & Design: Judges will assess the project's creativity in terms of its originality, innovation, and out-of-the-box thinking. They'll look for projects that demonstrate unique approaches to solving problems, unconventional ideas, and imaginative use of technology. The visual design and aesthetics of the project will be evaluated, focusing on factors such as layout, typography, color scheme, and graphical elements. Judges will consider how well the design enhances the user experience and communicates the project's purpose and functionality.
Judging format is as follows:
Participants MUST COME IN-PERSON to be evaluated. Judges will go around tables and to evaluate a 2-3 MINUTE demo on the code and will ask some additional questions! Participants should still upload their code on DevPost as well. Top 3 Winners will present to the audience to receive their prizes.
Hackathon Code of Conduct

5. Harassment-Free Environment: Maintain a harassment-free environment. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or any form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
6. Diversity and Inclusion: Celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity. Encourage participation from underrepresented groups and strive to create a diverse and inclusive community.
7. Professionalism: Conduct yourself professionally at all times. Behave in a manner that reflects positively on yourself and the hackathon community.
8. Compliance with Laws and Policies: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including those related to intellectual property, data privacy, and code of conduct.
9. Responsible Use of Technology: Use technology responsibly and ethically. Respect intellectual property rights, privacy rights, and the rights of others.
10. Feedback and Improvement: Provide constructive feedback to help improve the hackathon experience. Be open to receiving feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Enforcement
Participants who violate the code of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including warnings, removal from the event, or banning from future events. The organizers reserve the right to enforce the code of conduct as they deem appropriate.
Reporting
If you experience or witness any violations of the code of conduct, or if you have any concerns or questions, please report them to the organizers immediately. You can reach out to an organizer or acm@iit.edu.
