Together, we share these stories to inspire, educate, and heal.

Vision Maker Media (VMM) was established in 1976 originally as a media archive of videos about Native American history, culture, and generational wisdom. But VMM founder Frank Blythe, had a visionary mind that looked towards the development, distribution, and production of programming by and about Native Americans and Alaska Natives for PBS stations nationwide.

Now today, Vision Maker Media is celebrating 50 years as the U.S. flagship organization dedicated to bringing Indigenous storytelling into American homes and classrooms, through public television broadcasts, community-based events, social media feeds, and streaming downloads.

VMM accomplishes its mission, empowering and engaging Native people to share stories, through training, networking, and mentorship opportunities. Over its fifty-year history, VMM has supported 72% of Native America’s community stories. and envisions a world changed and healed by understanding Native stories and the public conversations they generate.

For 50 years--1976-2026, Vision Maker Media continues to foster new talent, fund new film stories, and distribute finished films by and about Native Americans and Alaska Natives for audiences of all ages and generations to enjoy.

You too can invest in Native American storytellers in filmmaking, please donate today.
