Welcome to Uncommon Hacks, the official hackathon of the University of Chicago!
Spend 24 hours working on a project and meeting cool people in this one-of-a-kind experience! In our 2024 edition of Hacks, including the overnight component that makes for a truly unforgettable experience.

Although Hacks will have prizes, we place more emphasis on learning and collaboration than some kind of competitive aspect. So even if you've never coded before, please do sign up! A successful Hacks team needs people with different skill sets, and if you would like to learn how to code, we'll have workshops to help you do so.

Requirements

There are 4 Tracks for Submission that we Use for Judging:

1. Game Design

2. Web Development

3. Data Analysis

4. Programatic Art

You will still be eligible for overall and opt-in prize categories if you choose to not opt for any track above.

Also, we Have Some Rules:

  • You must be a registered hackathon participant to submit a project through Devpost.
  • Each team is only allowed to submit 1 project.
  • The max team size is 5. Each team member must be added to the project to be eligible for prizes.
  • We don't allow you to submit your project to other hackathons.
  • We don’t allow submitting a project that includes work done outside of the hacking period.
  • You must provide a public GitHub repository link in your submission. Your code must remain public after the event to be eligible for prizes.
  • You must demo your project in our judging space in-person. Uploading a video demo for your project under 3 minutes is optional, but recommended.
  • You can use libraries, frameworks, or open-source code. Make sure to document any external code usages in your Devpost submission to avoid misunderstandings.
  • Projects can be disqualified at organizers' discretion. Reasons might include but are not limited to breaking the rules, breaking the Code of Conduct, or other unsporting behavior.

Most importantly, have fun, meet new people, learn and enjoy yourselves. We love all creativity so don't leave it at home!

[MLH] Best Use of Starknet
1 winner

# Starknet Care Package for Coders #
# Free Ticket to Web3 Conference sponsored by Starknet #

Starknet is redefining the very notion of Web3 by tackling one of the most intimidating technical challenges in the industry - scaling a blockchain while maintaining its security and decentralization.

Starknet was the first general purpose ZK-Rollup service on Ethereum in Feb. 2022, and has proved its potential to be a market leader. Essentially, it increases the processing speed, while reducing the cost of operating on the Ethereum blockchain.

As a result, we are seeing a variety of "traditional" tech businesses - payments / social media / AI / online gaming - now being integrated with blockchains using our technology.

Moreover, the Starknet community is a growing pool of global talent - from feisty college students to some of the most illustrious PhDs in the world.

Wanna be a part of this growing community? Let's get you started!
