About TerraHacks
TerraHacks is a 36-hour hackathon open to everyone of all skill levels to come collaborate on projects and work together to create solutions to real-world problems. TerraHacks 2025 is held on Toronto Metropolitan University Campus in Downtown Toronto from August 1st to August 3rd. From various mini-events, networking opportunities with sponsors and peers, to workshops and mentorship, TerraHacks aims to offer a memorable experience for all its participants in its first year.
TerraHacks aims to bridge the gap between academia and the industry, while raising awareness about various environmental issues facing our world today. We aim to create a space for students from diverse backgrounds to bring their ideas together in order to create an impactful solution, build their portfolio, and learn in fast-paced environment, all while offering a fun experience for all our participants.
Requirements
What to Build
Our prize categories and exact theme will be revealed during our opening ceremony, so keep a lookout for that!
What to Submit
All projects must be started after the opening ceremony on August 1st and submitted before the deadline on August 3rd. Project ideas must be original and not taken from other personal projects or other people's projects. If any of the above restrictions are breached, the project will be disqualified immediately!
For TerraHacks, participants need to submit the following on Devpost:

Project Description and Details:
- A detailed explanation of your project, including its purpose, functionality, and impact.
- What did you learn, what challenges did you face, what could you have done better; reflect on your journey!

Optional Demo Video:
- A video (maximum 3 minutes) demonstrating your project. This should include an overview of the project, key features, and how it works.

Source Code:
- A link to the project’s source code, preferably hosted on GitHub.

Team Details:
- Provide the details of your team, including the member's names and the team name. Please ensure that those are reflected on the portal once you submit your project.

Additional Documentation (if applicable, recommended):
- Any additional supporting materials like diagrams, presentations, or datasets used.
Ensure your submission is complete and clear to showcase your innovation effectively!

Overall Solution - Nintendo Switch x4
A Nintendo Switch will be given to the overall winners of TerraHacks. Each member of the winning team will receive a Switch. Up to 4 Switches will be handed out.
Best Use of Emerging Tech - Lenovo Legion 27" Gaming Monitor x4
A Lenovo Legion 27" Gaming Monitor will be given out to winners of the Best Use of Emerging Technology category. Each member of the winning team will receive a monitor. Up to 4 monitors will be handed out.
