This is a 3-day “basecamp” style hackathon where tech professionals partner with nonprofits to design AI-powered solutions to real world social-impact problems.
Rather than purely coding, the event emphasizes human-centred design, empathy, and collaboration with nonprofit leaders.
Participants will choose a track:
-
Nonprofit Track: work directly with nonprofit partners on their specific challenges.
-
AI for Nonprofit Open Track: teams pick a general nonprofit-theme (e.g., fundraising, volunteer matching, impact measurement) and design a solution.
-
Apply as a tech participant via the website (application required).
-
Input your team's information
-
For the rest of the instructions, follow the guide on site.
Requirements
Depending on the track:
-
Nonprofit Track: Build a solution addressing a specific challenge posed by a partner nonprofit. Example: for AbilityPath—a mobile AI chatbot for families with developmental disabilities to guide eligibility, document prep, scheduling and follow-up.
-
AI for Nonprofit Open Track: Build broadly applicable AI-driven tools for nonprofit needs
By the end of Day 3 (Nov 9):
-
A working prototype or demo of your solution (app, dashboard, workflow, AI-bot, etc).
-
A presentation/pitch to the nonprofit partners and judges.

Judging Criteria
-
Innovation
Assesses creativity and originality. Rewards ideas that break new ground, challenge norms, or use technology in unexpected ways to create fresh, impactful solutions. -
AI Integration
Recognizes smart, effective use of AI. Evaluates how well AI enhances functionality, accuracy, or user experience, and whether it’s applied responsibly and meaningfully. -
Completeness
Measures how polished, functional, and reliable the project is. A complete system shows smooth integration, solid execution, and end-to-end usability. -
Solving Practical Problem
Rewards solutions that tackle real-world needs. Judges look for clear problem definition, user impact, and practical value that makes a measurable difference.
