Our Commitment
SiteOrigin is committed to ensuring that our website and products are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe the web should be open and usable for all, and we continuously work to improve the accessibility of our tools.
WCAG 2.1 AA Conformance
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and define how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
We regularly review our website and products against these guidelines and address issues as they are identified.
What We've Done
We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility across our website and plugins:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and meaningful HTML elements throughout our website and plugin interfaces.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Our website supports full keyboard navigation, including dropdown menus and modal dialogs.
- Skip links: A "Skip to content" link is provided on every page to allow keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Reduced motion: Animations are automatically disabled when a user has the "prefers reduced motion" setting enabled in their operating system.
- Focus indicators: All interactive elements have visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are properly marked to be ignored by screen readers.
- ARIA attributes: Where appropriate, we use ARIA roles, states, and properties to enhance screen reader compatibility.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full conformance, we acknowledge that some areas of our website and products may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA criteria. Known areas we are actively working to improve include:
- Some older documentation pages may have heading hierarchy issues
- Certain complex drag-and-drop interfaces in the WordPress editor may have limited keyboard support
- Some third-party embedded content (e.g., payment forms) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control
