Reporting Guide

If you believe someone is violating the code of conduct we ask that you report it to the F# Software Foundation (FSSF) by emailing [email protected]. You may also directly contact any member of the Board of Trustees, or the Foundation directly by calling (702) 904-8186.

All reports will be kept confidential.

Any public discussion of the issue will be made by the Board of Trustees, and all efforts will be made to preserve the anonymity of the reporting party, unless specifically instructed otherwise.

If you believe anyone is in physical danger, please notify appropriate law enforcement immediately, prior to notifying the FSSF. If you are unsure what law enforcement agency is appropriate, please include this in your report and we will attempt to notify them.

In your report please include:

  • Your contact info (so we can notify you of receipt, and respond if we need more information or clarification)
  • Names (real, nicknames, or pseudonyms) of any individuals involved. Please include any other witnesses when possible.
  • When and where the incident occurred. Please be as specific as possible.
  • Your account of what occurred. If there is a publicly available record (e.g. a mailing list archive) please include a link.
  • Any extra context you believe existed for the incident.
  • If you believe this incident is ongoing.
  • Any other information you believe is relevant.

What happens after you file a report?

You will receive an email from a member of the Board of Trustees acknowledging receipt as soon as possible, typically in less than 24 hours. The board will immediately begin to review the incident, and work towards a resolution.

If the incident is ongoing or a threat to safety, a Board member will act as quickly as possible to resolve it. Otherwise, we will respond with our proposed resolution, or an updated timeline, within one week. The reporter will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed resolution before it is enacted, though the Board will not guarantee that action will be taken based on that feedback. The appropriate resolution will then be enacted.

Depending on the specifics of the incident, the Board of Trustees may also make a public statement or report. If this occurs, the reporting party and victims will be kept anonymous unless they instruct otherwise.

Appeals

Permanent resolutions, such as removal of membership or bans from FSSF managed spaces, may be appealed. Appeals will be reviewed by the Board during the next scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees, and a record of the final decision will be placed in the minutes of the meeting.

Note from the Executive Director: This document is inspired by the Django Project's Reporting Guide. It is intended to be a working document, and subject to change at any time. The underlying values and goals shall remain the same, but the specific mechanisms by which reports are managed may change over time as the FSSF grows. The goal is to always strive to best serve the community and members of the F# Software Foundation.
