Jose Romero
Sales Manager
Since joining DriverSource at its inception in 2005, Jose Romero has been instrumental in shaping the company into one of the premier names in the collector-car world. Starting from the ground up, his instinct for quality, authenticity, and storytelling quickly elevated him to Sales Manager, where he continues to lead global acquisitions and sales of some of the world’s most important automobiles.
Jose’s career began in a big way, assisting the world renowned John O’Quinn Collection in Houston—one of the largest private car collections in the world—where he managed the sale of over 125 vehicles from its 1,000-car stable. He later represented the Jerry J. Moore Collection estate, which included iconic marques such as Duesenberg, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz, and played a pivotal role in the sale of numerous historically significant automobiles.
Among his landmark achievements was spearheading the 2013 acquisition and sale of the Bill Young BMW Collection, a 27-car portfolio that helped redefine the collectible BMW market. Since then, Jose has overseen the purchase, sale, and brokering of nearly 5,000 important collector cars, including such icons as the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Alloy, Ferrari 250 California Spider, Ferrari 288 GTO, Ferrari F40, McLaren F1, Lamborghini Miura, Porsche 904, 906, and 908, and classics like the Duesenberg Model J Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe.
As a significant enthusiast of the Ferrari Dino 246 GT/GTS, Jose has single-handedly brought a renewed attention and appreciation to these cars within the collector car community. To date, he has sourced, purchased, brokered and sold nearly 100 Dino’s, making him one of the foremost authorities on the model worldwide.Under his leadership, DriverSource became one of the top-performing sellers on Bring a Trailer, achieving over 400 successful listings to date with an over 90% sell-through rate. Jose has curated and launched multiple themed offerings such as the Spring Motoring Collection, the Annual OKTMOTORFEST Collection, Classici Moderni Collection, and DS Legends Collection—all celebrated for their presentation quality, storytelling depth, and market impact.
In 2017, Jose was recognized by Sports Car Market Magazine in its prestigious “40 Under 40” feature, honoring forty key figures shaping the future of the global collector-car industry. This recognition reflects his lasting influence, deep expertise, and continued leadership in the field.
A seasoned participant in international events such as Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Cavallino Classic, and the Amelia Island Concours, Jose maintains strong relationships with the world’s foremost auction houses, dealers, brokers, and collectors. His expertise in valuation, collection management, and acquisition strategy has made him a trusted advisor to estates, investors, and enthusiasts alike.
