CHALLENGE RULES

(the “Rules”)

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

SUBMISSION OF ANY ENTRY CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES (the “Rules”) AS A CONTRACT BETWEEN PARTICIPANT (“PARTICIPANT” OR “YOU”) (AND EACH MEMBER OF ENTRANT), THE SPONSOR AND DEVPOST.

Sponsor & Administrator: Logitech Europe SA, EPFL – Quartier de l’Innovation, CH – 1015 Lausanne, Switzerland, no. CHE – 107.480.290 (the “Sponsor”, “we” or “us”).  

Platform: Devpost, Inc. (“Devpost”), 222 Broadway, Floor 19, New York, NY 10038.

The aim of these Rules is to set out the terms and conditions governing Your participation in the Challenge. By participating in this Challenge, You fully and unconditionally agree to comply with these Rules.  If You do not agree with any of these Rules, do not register for this Challenge and do not submit an entry.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

  • Logitech will have no obligation to keep the Deliverables confidential or proprietary, and shall not be liable for any use or disclosure of the Deliverables.

  • Logitech may use or distribute the Deliverables and their contents for the purpose of the Challenge, without restriction or any compensation.

  • There is no obligation for Logitech to review, keep, acknowledge or return the Deliverables or any related materials.

  • Participants selected for the Final Phase are required to travel to Switzerland for the final event (see conditions below). Individuals must therefore be capable of obtaining the appropriate travel visa (if applicable) to Switzerland  in time to .

AGREEING TO THE RULES

Any eligible person who is registered on the Challenge website and enrolls to participate in the Challenge (“Participant” or “You”), is required to review and accept these Rules. By accessing and accepting these Rules, You:

  1. enter into a valid and enforceable contractual relationship with the Sponsor regarding participation in the Challenge. The Sponsor and the Participant agree that they are independent contractors. Nothing contained in these Rules shall be construed as making the Sponsor or the Participant, the agent, employee, joint venture or partner of the other party, and

  2. fully and unconditionally agree to comply with these Rules. Participants express their agreement by checking an online box while enrolling for the Challenge.

In case of non-compliance with these Rules, the Participant will be immediately disqualified from the Challenge and no prize will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY

This Challenge is open to: 

  • Individuals who are at least the age of majority where they reside as of the time of entry (“Eligible Individuals”);

  • Teams of Eligible Individuals; and

  • Organizations (including corporations, startups, not-for-profit corporations and other non profit organizations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and other  or legal entities), that exist and have been organized and incorporated at the time of entry (collectively, the “Participants”)

All the documents that may confirm the Participant’s eligibility may be required prior to validating any registration or  awarding any prizes.

Eligible Individuals may join more than one Team and an Eligible Individual who is part of a Team or Organization may also enter the Challenge on an individual basis, provided that such entry includes different Deliverables and there is no duplicate between the entries. If a Team or Organization is entering the Challenge, they must appoint and authorize one individual (the “Representative”) to represent, act, and enter a Submission, on their behalf. By entering a Submission on behalf of a Team or Organization you represent and warrant that you are the Representative authorized to act on behalf of your Team or Organization.

PLEASE NOTE: To be considered for a First or Second Place Prize, the Eligible Individual or at least one Eligible Individual (if a Team or Organization) must be eligible for travel to Switzerland, have a valid passport and any necessary and required travel documents (e.g. visas and additional IDs), and be ready and willing present their winning submission at Logitech’s World Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, for a two-day event (November 19–20th). It is your sole responsibility to review and understand your eligibility for travel to Lausanne, Switzerland, and ensure you do not have scheduling conflicts. See IMPORTANT NOTES ON PRIZE ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS FOR TRAVEL below.  

The Challenge IS NOT OPEN: to 

  • Individuals who are residents of, or Organizations domiciled in a country, state, province or territory where the laws of the United States or local laws prohibits participating or receiving a price in the Challenge (including, but not limited to, Brazil, Quebec, Russia, Belarus, Crimea, Cuban, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Sudan, Myanmar and any other countries designated  by the United States Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control);

  • Individuals or Organizations on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Denied Persons, Entity, or Unverified LIsts or the U.S. Treasury Department’s list of Specially Designed Nationals and Consolidated Sanctions list;

  • Organizations involved in the design, production, paid promotion, execution, or distribution of the Challenge, including the Sponsor and the Administrator (“Promotion Entities”);

  • Employees,  representatives and agents* of the Promotion Entities, Sponsor and all members of their immediate family or household**;

  • Any patent company, subsidiary, or other affiliate*** of any organization described above; 

  • Any other individual or organization whose participation in the Challenge would create, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, a real or apparent conflict of interest.

* Agents include individual or organizations that in creating Deliverables are acting on behalf of, and at the direction of, a Promotion Entity through a contractual or similar relationship

**The members of an individual immediate family or household include the individual’s spouse, children and stepchildren, parents and stepparents, siblings and stepsiblings. The member of an individual household include any other person that shares the same residence as the individual for at least three (3) months out of the year.

***An affiliate is: (i) an organization that is under common control, sharing a common majority or controlling owner, or common management; or (ii) an organization that has a substantial ownership in, or is substantially owned by the other organization.

This Challenge is void in countries where it is prohibited or restricted by law.

PURPOSE OF THE CHALLENGE

The goal of the Challenge is for Participants to submit contributions (or projects) meeting the criteria determined by the Sponsor in the Challenge brief, and that are formalized by deliverables. The brief includes information regarding various deadlines, details of the prizes, Sponsor requirements etc. (the “Brief”). The Brief is accessible through the Challenge Website.

DATES AND TIMING  OF THE CHALLENGE

This Challenge begins on 21 January, 2026 and ends on 7 May, 2026 at 17:00. The Challenge will be accessible 24 hours a day on the dedicated Challenge website operated by Devpost at https://devstudiologitech2026.devpost.com (the “Challenge Website”), subject to possible IT maintenance operations. Dates and times in these Rules refer to (GMT+1).

Application Phase: 

  • 21 January 2026: Applications open

  • 25 February 2026 (17:00 GMT+1): Applications close

Semi-Finals Phase

  • 4 March 2026: Top 50 selected projects announced

  • 1 April 2026 (23:59 GMT+1): Final projects submission deadline for shortlisted participants

Finals Phase

  • 8 April 2026: Top 6 finalists announced

  • 6 & 7 May 2026: Final pitch and event in Switzerland, Grand winners announced

REGISTRATION

Participants may register by completing the below steps by 25 Feb 2026 23:59 (GMT+1):

  • Register for the  Challenge on the Challenge Website by clicking the “REGISTER” button.

  • To complete registration, sign up to create a free Devpost account, or log in with an existing Devpost account. This will enable you to receive important updates and to create your Submission.

Entry in the Challenge constitutes consent for the Sponsor and Devpost to collect and maintain an entrant’s personal information for the purpose of operating and publicizing the Challenge.

Team Representation. If a Team or Organization is entering the Challenge, they must appoint and authorize one individual (the “Representative”) to represent, act, and enter a Submission, on their behalf. The Representative must meet the eligibility requirements above. By entering a Submission on the Challenge Website on behalf of a Team or Organization you represent and warrant that you are the Representative authorized to act on behalf of your Team or Organization.

 

Any registration based on inaccurate, false or incomplete information will result in the Participant’s disqualification. Refusing collection, recording and use of their personal data that is strictly necessary to performing the Challenge will result in the Participant’s disqualification. The Participant is solely responsible for the information it provides when registering. Any intentional or unintentional mistake, anomaly or inconsistency, regarding this information, may result in the Participant’s disqualification. The Sponsor reserves the right to proceed with all necessary verifications regarding the Participant’s identity, postal and/or email address.

Deletion of a Participant’s user account on the Challenge website will be deemed as a withdrawal from the Challenge. In this case, the Participant, regardless of whether the deletion results from the Participant’s personal action or not, will not participate in the Challenge, and will not obtain any compensation.

You must also have accepted DevPost’s Terms of Service, during the creation of your user account and your registration to the Challenge.

Registration for and participation in the Challenge is free, with no purchase or payment obligation.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS / DELIVERABLES

During the Challenge, Participants may upload the required documents or other materials (such as texts, presentations, videos, etc.) relating to their project to the Challenge website in response and as a solution to the Sponsor’s Challenge (the “Deliverable”). 

To be eligible, Deliverables must,

  • Address the specific issue set out in the Brief.

  • Be in a common digital format, such as, DOC, PDF, PPT, MP4,

  • Be in English, and in general terms must comply with these Rules.

If a Deliverable cannot be downloaded, is not in the right format or is incompatible, illegible, or unintelligible, the Deliverable will be disqualified. 

By submitting a Deliverable, the following needs must  be respected:

  • The Deliverable includes exclusive contributions from the participant(s)

  • Otherwise, if content from a third party has been used in the development of the Deliverable, all rights, authorizations and agreements necessary to submit the Deliverable and grant the rights mentioned herein have been obtained. The existence of uncredited third-party contributions in the Deliverable will result in the disqualification of the Deliverable and the related Participants;

  • No other individual and/or entity is entitled to claim any rights from the use of the Deliverable; and

  • The content of the Deliverable does not and will not infringe or violate any rights of any third party or entity, including, without limitation, intellectual property rights, privacy, competition law, confidentiality, or any contractual or extracontractual right. All deliverables suspected of any law(s) and/or any third party’s right will be ineligible.

Participants are required to provide access to a public repository where the software application relating to their project is available to the Challenge’s Sponsor (the “Application”). 

To be eligible, the Application must,

  • Be the original work of the Participant, be solely owned by the Participant, and not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

  • Be accessible for judging and testing by providing an installation link for the Project. To create an installation link, (insert any relevant instructions).  In the case of MX Ink applications, use the Horizon Developer Dashboard to create a beta Release Channel, and share your application via an invite link.

  • Be capable of being successfully installed in a Logitech’s test environment via an installation link, it must run consistently on the platform for which it is intended, and it must function as depicted in the video and/or expressed in the text description.

  • If an Application integrates any third-party SDK, APIs and/or data, Participant must be authorized to use them in accordance with any terms and conditions or licensing requirements of the tool.

A Participant may submit more than one Project incl. related Deliverables and Applications. However, each Submission must be unique and substantially different from each of the Participant’s other Submissions, as determined by the Sponsor and Devpost in their sole discretion.

Participants may post and update draft versions of their project on their DevPost portfolio during the Application Phase. Once they submit a project and the phase deadline is reached, no change or alteration to their Submission will be possible. However, a Participant may continue to update their project in their Devpost portfolio.

The Sponsor and Devpost may permit Participant to modify part of their Submission after the deadline for the purpose of adding, removing or replacing material that potentially infringes a third party mark or right, discloses personally identifiable information, or is otherwise inappropriate. The modified Submission must remain substantively the same as the original Submission with the only modification being what the Sponsor and Devpost permits.

Participants are responsible for and shall bear any costs or expenses associated with preparing and submitting Deliverables and Applications. Participants assume all risk for damaged, lost, late, incomplete, invalid, incorrect or misdirected Deliverables.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The Challenge consists of several phases.

1. Application phase

The application phase will run from 21 January 2026 and will end on 25 Feb 2026 at 23:59. Logitech will be running several webinars across time zones before the submission deadline. Participants are highly encouraged to attend the webinars to gain further insights on the two challenges areas and the chance to ask Logitech any questions they may have. 

 

Participants will obtain access to the required SDK and develop Deliverables per the requirements. Use of the Logitech Actions SDKs will be subject to the applicable  terms available here

What to create: Create a pitch for an innovative application for Logitech’s ecosystem of devices. Choose from one of the following categories to submit your work:

  1. ACTIONS SDK

  2. STYLUS IN XR (META Quest)

 

Submission: Deliverables must be submitted before 25 Feb 2026, 23:59 (GMT+1), meet the requirements set out above, and include:

  • Answers to questions on the submission form

  • Include a text description that should explain the features and functionality of your Project idea 

  • Include a video pitch of your Project. The video portion of the Submission:

    • should be approximately one (1) minute. Judges are not required to watch beyond one minute 

    • must be uploaded to and made publicly visible on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook Video, or Youku, and a link to the video must be provided on the submission form on the Challenge Website; and

    • must not include third party trademarks, or copyrighted music or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.

Selection: “Criteria-based” selection will take place from 25 Feb, 2026 to Mar 4th, 2026

The goal of this first phase is to shortlist 50x Participants. Except as otherwise provided below, the 50x selected Participants that will proceed to the next round will be announced on the platform by Mar 4th, 2026.

 

2. Semi-Finals Phase


This phase starts on March 4th 2026 and finishes on April 1st, 2026. A panel of Logitech stakeholders and domain experts will evaluate the shortlisted teams’  proposals and select the 6 (3 per challenge topic) most innovative solutions to proceed to the next phase.

 

What to create: Create an innovative application based on your Project from the Application Phase for Logitech’s ecosystem of devices. Follow the project requirements based on the category you selected for your Application Phase submission:

  1. ACTIONS SDK Requirements
    Develop a plugin that seamlessly integrates with Logitech’s cutting-edge interactive devices. Your solution should empower users to boost productivity, streamline workflows, or solve existing challenges with creativity and innovation.

  2. STYLUS IN XR (META Quest) Requirements
    An innovative Mixed Reality app that fully integrates the MX Ink stylus and meets the criteria for publication on the Meta App Store.

Submission: Deliverables and Application must be submitted before April 1st, 2026, 23:59 (GMT+1), meet the requirements set out above, and include:

  • (if updated) Answers to the submission form

  • URL to a public repository where an executable version of the Application is accessible for testing and judging

  • The (final) text description that should explain the features and functionality of your Project. 

  • The (final) video pitch of your Project. The video portion of the Submission:

    • should be three (3) minutes or less. Judges are not required to watch beyond three minutes 

    • should include footage that shows the Project functioning on the device for which it was built

    • must be uploaded to and made publicly visible on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook Video, or Youku, and a link to the video must be provided on the submission form on the Challenge Website; and

    • must not include third party trademarks, or copyrighted music or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.

Selection: “Criteria-based” selection will take place from April 1st, 2026 to April 8th, 2026.

Except as otherwise provided below, the selected 6 finalists that will proceed to the next round will be announced on the platform by April 8th, 2026.

3. Finals Phase


Challenge Finalists: On April 8th, 2026, 6 (six) Finalists teams (3 teams per challenge topic) will be announced. Up to 2 representatives of each Finalists team will be invited for a 2-day Finals Event (May 6-7, 2026) at the Sponsor’s Worldwide Headquarters in Switzerland, where they will showcase and pitch their proposals to Logitech stakeholders and domain experts.  See IMPORTANT NOTES ON PRIZE ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS FOR TRAVEL below.  

 

The Pitching Sessions consist of an oral presentation of the selected projects by the Participants over one of two days and are held in person. Participants are not required to upload a Deliverable again to the Challenge website before the Finals.

Participants who have been selected to participate in the Final Round will be directly notified by email to the address provided during registration. In the event a Participant does not confirm its attendance at the Finals event, the Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify this Participant from a 1st or 2nd Place prize. This disqualification shall not entitle the Participant to claim any kind of compensation from the Sponsor beyond the first round Application phase prizes.

Challenge Winners: On May 7th, 20926, the 2 (two) winning teams (1 winner per challenge topic) will be announced.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by the Sponsor (the “Judges”). Judges may be employees of the sponsor or third parties, may or may not be listed individually on the Challenge Website, and may change before or during the Judging Period. Judging may take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of Judges, at the discretion of the sponsor. 

At the end of the Application Phase, a panel of Judges stage will determine via pass/fail whether the ideas meet a baseline level of viability, in that the Project reasonably fits the theme and reasonably applies the required APIs/SDKs featured in the Hackathon.

At the end of the Semi-Finals and Finals Phases, a panel of Judges will evaluate the selected Projects based on the following equally weighted criteria (the “Judging Criteria”), and according to the sole and absolute discretion of the Judges.

NOVELTY

  • We want an innovative concept that showcases a new way of interacting using a device and an app/service/web that serves as a new proposition on the market.

IMPACT

  • We look for meaningful value propositions addressing a relevant need for a sizable number of people today. 

  • The solution needs to support a clear storytelling narrative for marketing purposes.

VIABILITY

  • The business model and economics of the solution should be viable. 

  • The Participants demonstrated their ability to market and maintain their project post-launch.

IMPLEMENTATION QUALITY

  • The application demonstrates a well crafted UX and offers a seamless consumer experience.

  • The application complies with the eligibility criteria for the META store and Logitech marketplace approval guidelines 

 

Tie Breaking. For each Prize listed below, if two or more Submissions are tied, the tied Submission with the highest score in the first applicable criterion listed above will be considered the higher scoring Submission. In the event any ties remain, this process will be repeated, as needed, by comparing the tied Submissions’ scores on the next applicable criterion. If two or more Submissions are tied on all applicable criteria, the panel of Judges will vote on the tied Submissions.

Participants agree and acknowledge that the Challenge relies on your creativity, capacity, ability, and ingenuity to solve difficult problems. The Challenge does not depend, even partially, on chance or luck, and therefore should not be considered as a lottery. Under no circumstances are factors such as appearance, religion, membership in a trade union, political opinions or sexual orientation considered. 

Notification to Participants. Once selection has been completed, Participants will be notified by email, phone, or by other means of the results of each Round. The Sponsor will be free to alter the dates on which results are released should this become necessary due to the number of projects to be assessed.  For the Finals phase The ranking decided by the final jury will be announced on the day that presentations are made and will identify the Participants that are finalists.

PRIZES

The prizes are awarded to the winners of the Challenge and are subject to compliance with the following cumulative conditions:

  • The Deliverables comply with the Deliverables Section (“Deliverables”);

  • Each Participant of a winning project complies with the Communication and Intellectual Property Sections;

  • It can be proven that the winning Participants fulfil the conditions of eligibility conditions set forth in the Rules.

No prize will be awarded to winners who do not fulfill the above conditions. Subject to these Terms and Conditions, once confirmed by Sponsor, the winner(s) will receive the following:

Winner(s) of the Application Phase:

  • Fifty (50) selected team will receive each:

    • Logitech Devices: Each selected team will receive a voucher, redeemable at Logitech.com, for up to two units of either the MX Ink or MX Creative Console. Teams with multiple selected projects will be awarded a corresponding number of vouchers.

    • Expert Guidance: Enjoy a month-long mentorship with Logitech experts specializing in technical development, design, marketing, UX, and more. This support is tailored to elevate your product's impact.

    • Exclusive Insights: Access valuable intelligence and resources to refine and optimize your application.

    • Promotional Support: Leverage ready-made promotional materials and social media assets to amplify your message across your own channels.

Winner(s) of the Semi-FInals Phase:

  • Six (6) selected team will receive each:

    • Travel Prize*: Experience a 2-day visit to Logitech's headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on May 6 & 7th, 2026. Travel Prize will be limited to maximum 2 individuals per Participant (Teams and Organizations). See full details under IMPORTANT NOTES ON TRAVEL PRIZE ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS.

    • Global Recognition: Present your solutions on Logitech’s DevStudio website, gaining visibility and credibility in the global tech community.

Winner(s) of the Finals Phase

  • Two (2) selected teams will receive each:

    • US$10,000 Cash Reward: Celebrate your outstanding achievement with a remarkable cash prize for the top-performing team in each challenge topic.

No assignment or transfer of prizes is allowed by a winner. If a potential winner cannot be reached, is unable to accept the prize or any portion of the prize for any reason, Sponsor shall have no further obligation to such potential winner. Winners will accept the prize “as it is”. Sponsor disclaims any warranty regarding the Prizes.

In the event a Participant (a winner) cannot be reached, by email or by phone, for more than three (3) months after the first attempt to reach them was made, it will be deemed as having waived their right to claim the prize and will not be entitled to any prize or any kind of compensation.

Any Participant who does not fulfil the conditions of Participation as provided in the Rules during their registration and/or at any time during the Challenge will be summarily disqualified from the Challenge without prior notice and will not be entitled to any prize. In the event that a prize is awarded to a Participant who does not meet the conditions of Participation when registering or throughout the duration of the Challenge, Sponsor reserves the right to not engage in any prize-related activities with Participant.

Fees & Taxes: Winners (and in the case of Team or Organization, all participating members) are responsible for any fees associated with receiving or using a prize, including but not limited to, wiring fees or currency exchange fees. Winners (and in the case of Team or Organization, all participating members) are responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes in their jurisdiction of residence (federal, state/provincial/territorial and local). Winners may be required to provide certain information to facilitate receipt of the award, including completing and submitting any tax or other forms necessary for compliance with applicable withholding and reporting requirements. United States residents may be required to provide a completed form W-9 and residents of other countries may be required to provide a completed W-8BEN form. Winners are also responsible for complying with foreign exchange and banking regulations in their respective jurisdictions and reporting the receipt of the Prize to relevant government departments/agencies, if necessary. The Sponsor, Devpost, and/or Prize provider reserves the right to withhold a portion of the prize amount to comply with the tax laws of the United States or other Sponsor jurisdiction, or those of a winner’s jurisdiction.

* IMPORTANT NOTES ON TRAVEL PRIZE ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS:

  • All travel arrangements will be made by Sponsor (or another party on Sponsor’s behalf) in its sole discretion. 

  • If any Participant requests special travel plans or accommodation and if the cost of the special travel request exceeds that of the standard Final travel plans, Logitech may require Participants to cover the difference in cost.

  • Travel Prizes are subject to travel availability at the time of booking. 

  • Travelers must hold a passport valid at the time of travel to Switzerland.

  • The Travel Prize will be awarded to up to 2 members of each Finalist team and includes:

    • Travel from the Travel Prize Recipients’ home city airport to the destination airport on economy class, and back.

    • Up to three nights’ accommodation for each Travel Prize Recipient at accommodation of Sponsor’s choice (excluding extra costs incurred by the Travel Prize Recipients during their stay, such as room service). 

    • An invitation to visit Logitech’s Worldwide Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, for a two-day event event (May 6–7th, 2026)

  • Travel Prize includes sales or hotel tax directly applicable to the stated Travel Prize, however, any additional charges incurred during the stay must be settled with the hotel directly before departure.

  • If a Travel Prize Recipient resides in Europe, Sponsor will determine whether flight, train or other travel is more appropriate, and book travel accordingly.

  • Travel Prize excludes spending money, meals, drinks, gratuities, excursions and incidental expenses incurred whilst on holiday other than those stated as included.

  • Travel Prize Recipient(s) is responsible for ensuring compliance with any necessary visa and other legal travel requirements and regulations prior to departure, travel vaccinations, subsistence, local currency, any local taxes and/or charges.

  • Travel Prize Recipient is responsible for arranging their own travel insurance and health requirements, as well as checking any government or health authority travel advice for up-to-date requirements and restrictions relevant for travel to/from the destination and their country of residence.

  • If flights are delayed or canceled, or the Travel Prize Recipient misses their flights or needs to change travel dates after booking for any reason whatsoever, the Travel Prize Recipient must seek advice directly from the relevant airline in accordance with the airline’s terms and conditions or from their travel insurance provider (as applicable).

  • Sponsor is in no way responsible if the Travel Prize Recipient is denied access to the destination country for any reason, and in such circumstances is not required to reschedule the Travel Prize, nor to provide an alternative prize or cash substitute.

  • The cash equivalent will not be provided. Travel Prize Recipient(s) must be able to travel at the time of the two-day event (May 6-7th, 2026). If any Travel Prize Recipients are unable to travel at that time, the Travel Prize will be forfeit and no substitute will be provided.

  • In the event a Submission is selected to attend the In-Person Final event, but Entrant is unable to attend the event due to an unforeseen circumstance (example: sudden illness, or a death in the family), the Sponsor will identify a new recipient of the Finalist prize by selecting the first Entrant who is willing and able to attend the Final event from the following potential winners: 

    • The potential Seventh Prize winner in the Top 50 Prizes, then

    • The potential Eighth Prize winner in the Top 50 Prizes, then

    • The potential Ninth Prize winner in the Top 50 Prizes, then

    • The potential Tenth Prize winner in the Top 50 Prizes Prizes

No compensation or refund will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of a flight. The travel is subject to the terms and conditions set forth in these Rules, and those set forth by the airline carriers as provided in the passenger ticket contract. SELECTED PARTICIPANTS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO TRAVEL, SUCH AS VALID PASSPORT AND VISA (IF NECESSARY), AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THAT SUCH TRAVEL PAPERS ARE VALID FOR THE ENTIRE TERM OF THE CHALLENGE. TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS, CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS MAY APPLY. To the extent permissible by law, Participants assume responsibility for all other charges and incidental travel costs, including, without limitation, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, taxes and insurance costs and fees. Participants are required to have proper medical insurance for the duration of the stay abroad. Participants could have to pay additional incidental travel expenses to receive the prizes. Nothing in these Rules shall deprive Participants of consumer protection rights granted by the laws of their country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.

COMMUNICATION

The Participant acknowledges and consents that Sponsor may, throughout and for the duration of the Challenge and for a period of one (1) year following the Finals use the Challenge for publicity, including for Sponsor’s advertising or other marketing purposes, (by any means and through any format (website, advertising banners, social networks, newsletter, press release) now known or unknown to date, free of charge or for a consideration. 

In particular, you consent to the use, by the Sponsor, of the Participant’s name and its distinctive signs, as well as, for the individuals representing the team, the name and surname, city and region of residence, the name of the institution in which they studied or in which they obtained their diplomas and other biographical information, their image, the information regarding the Prize (if you are a winner) and any other personal data that you submit with your Deliverables as well as the content of your Deliverables relating to the Challenge. 

As an example, each Participant authorizes the Sponsor to use the photographs taken during the Final to disseminate them via any communication medium.

Such use does not entitle the winner to any other payment than the Prize it received. The Sponsor agrees to cease use of the aforementioned elements in connection with the Participant at the end of the aforementioned period.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY

The Sponsor has no obligation to keep the information contained in the Deliverables confidential. In general terms, when submitting any Deliverables, the Participants understand, agree and accept that some Submission components may be displayed to the public. Other Submission materials may be viewed by the sponsor, Devpost, and judges for screening and evaluation.

If you are a prize winner, the Sponsor may request that you execute a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement for the purpose of entering into negotiations regarding the further development of your project, as described in your Deliverable.  Such confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement will be directed to your Deliverable and all intellectual property that it may contain.

All Submissions remain the intellectual property of the individuals or organizations that developed them. Furthermore, Participants acknowledge that the Sponsor may currently or in the future be developing information internally, or receiving information from other parties, that is similar to the information contained in any of the projects. Accordingly, nothing herein shall prohibit the Sponsor from independently acquiring, developing, or having developed for it, products, concepts, systems, services, or techniques that are similar to or compete with the products, concepts, systems or techniques contemplated by or embodied in any Deliverable. 

The Participants recognize that other Participants, individuals or entities may have provided to the Sponsor or others, or made public, or may in the future submit, or make public, content that is the same or similar to any piece of information contained in any of the projects. Hence, the Participants acknowledge, agree and accept that the Sponsor shall have the right to use such same or similar materials, and that the Participants will not be entitled to any compensation arising from the Sponsor’s use of such materials. 

 

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Definitions. For the purposes of this section, 

  • "Intellectual Property Rights" refer to any copyright or other rights over a brand, a design or a model, a patent and, more generally, any element, (including trade secrets and knowhow), that may be protected by national and/or international laws or conventions on intellectual property (“Intellectual Property Rights”)

  • “Previous Rights” refer to any Intellectual Property Rights and/or any associated know-how held by the Participants before the start date of the Challenge (“Previous Rights”) 

  • “Creations” refer to any software (including source and object code software), database, technical specifications, text, design, model, information, knowledge, method, process or product, as well as any resulting elements and/or processes likely or otherwise to be protected according to national and/or international laws or conventions on intellectual property developed by any Participant as a part of any submitted deliverable throughout the Challenge (“Creations”).

Warranty of non-infringement. When submitting any Deliverable, at any stage of the Challenge, each Participant guarantees to Sponsor that it is the owner and/or holder of the Intellectual Property Rights regarding all or part of the Creations contained in the Deliverables submitted at any stage of the Challenge, and that it has obtained all rights and permissions regarding all pre-existing Creations and any elements of the Deliverables for which it does not hold the relevant rights.

Each Participant guarantees (i) that its contribution is original and unprecedented; (ii) that it does not infringe upon the copyright or any Intellectual Property Rights of any third party; (iii) that all the elements of which its submissions are formed, as well as all pieces of contributions and information communicated in the submission presentation documents are accurate, reliable and complete; and (iv) that the submission of the relevant Deliverables does not constitute an act of unfair competition of any kind.

It is compulsory for Participants to indicate the source of any pre-existing Creations of whichever nature and on whichever support that are included in any submitted deliverable.

Liability. Sponsor cannot be held liable for any infringement of the above provisions by Participants. Each Participant shall indemnify the Sponsor against any disturbance, action, claim, opposition and demand or eviction attempt from any third party in connection with any Creation in the Deliverables (Intellectual Property Rights included).

By submitting a Deliverable and participating in this Challenge, you are not granting the Sponsor any rights to any intellectual property supporting all of part of the Deliverable and the Sponsor makes no claim to ownership of your Deliverable or any intellectual property that it may contain.

MODIFICATION OF RULES, SUSPENSION AND CANCELLATION OF THE CHALLENGE

Update of the Rules. The Sponsor reserves the right to amend these Rules at any time, including the Challenge duration in case of operational imperatives, without prior notice to Participants regarding the enforcement or the validity of these amendments.  Participants are encouraged to consult these Rules regularly. Participants expressly waive all claims or disputes related to any amendment to these Rules by the Sponsor. 

Should any paragraph of these Rules be declared or judged illegal, unenforceable or void by a court decision, the paragraph in question will be considered null and void, but all other unaffected paragraphs will be enforced within the limits of the law.

Challenge Cancellation or Suspension. The Sponsor reserves the right in its discretion, to (i) cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Challenge and these Rules, for any reason, at any time and without any liability, and (ii) to limit or restrict participation in the Challenge. The Sponsor will not be held liable for the modification, cancellation or suspension of the Challenge and no compensation or remuneration will be due to the Participants.

 

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Sponsor will in no way be held liable in the event of breakdown or failure, regardless of the cause, of any telecommunications network used that causes Participants difficulty in or prevents Participants from identifying themselves on or gaining access to the Challenge website.

Participants agree that Sponsor, its affiliates and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, representatives and agents (“released parties”) will have no liability whatsoever for, and will be released and held harmless by participants for any claims, liabilities, or causes of action of any kind or nature for any injury, loss or damages of any kind including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages to persons, including without limitation disability or death.  Without limiting the foregoing, everything on the challenge website and in connection with the challenge is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.  Some jurisdictions may not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages or exclusion of implied warranties, in which case such limitation or exclusion shall apply only to the extent permitted by the law in the relevant jurisdiction. 

Participation in the Challenge implies acknowledgement and acceptance of the characteristics, limits and risks of the internet and related technologies, particularly with regards to performance, response time, security of software and computer equipment against various potential attacks, such as viruses, logic bombs or Trojans, and loss or misuse of data. As a result, the Sponsor will not be held liable in any way for any damage incurred by Participants arising from these characteristics, limits and risks, which Participants accept by registering and taking part in the Challenge.

The Sponsor will not in any case be held liable for damages resulting from faults with or delays in the submission of deliverables by Participants, including refusal to accept these deliverables as a consequence of their submission outside the deadlines set out in the Rules, from faults with or delays to the sending of any emails by the Participant sent as part of the Challenge, or from any alterations made to the deliverables independently of the Sponsor.

The Sponsor will not in any case be held liable for damages resulting from services provided by a third-party relating to the prizes.

The Sponsor will not be held liable for the consequences of a Participant’s disqualification from the Challenge as a result of their violation of these Rules.

 

PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Participation in the Challenge requires the processing of the Participant's personal data ("Personal Data").

Participant’s personal data is subject to processing within the meaning of the regulations on the protection of personal data (The EU 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation and the Council of 27 April 2016, known as GDPR) for which the Sponsor defines the purposes and means and is, as such, “Data controller” within the meaning of the GDPR. The Sponsor is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of Participants, as described in the Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy, which explains how Logitech collects, uses, shares, and discloses personal information during the Challenge.  The Privacy Notice is incorporated into these Rules as if fully set forth herein.

The purposes of the processing are: 

  • To meet the organization of the challenge needs 

  • To organize the intermediation between the Participant and the Sponsor, to ensure identification, communication and preservation of the exchanges with the Participant

In accordance with the provisions of the GDPR, the Sponsor undertakes to implement organizational and technical security measures in order to protect all Participant’s Personal Data. The Sponsor undertakes these measures to allow the exercise of Participants’  rights from GDPR perspective.

CLAIMS

Any Participant’s claims arising from the Challenge, should be addressed no later than thirty (30) days following the Challenge end date to include Sponsor email. All claims must include: (i) the Participant’s complete contact details (name, address, email address and phone); (ii) the name of the Challenge; and (iii) a clear and detailed explanation for the claim.

APPLICABLE LAW AND DISPUTES RESOLUTION

The Challenge and any action related thereto shall be governed by the laws of Switzerland, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.

In case of persistent litigation beyond a period of fifteen (15) days after the Participant has informed the Sponsor of a complaint, the Sponsor and the Participant undertake to submit their dispute to an amicable conciliation prior to any legal proceedings. The party wishing to initiate conciliation shall inform the other party by means of a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt in which it will inform of its intentions and will explain the cause. If no agreement is reached between the parties within thirty (30) days after receipt of the registered letter, or if no conciliation is initiated within thirty (30) days after information of the Sponsor of a complaint the parties regain their freedom of action.

If the dispute cannot be amicably resolved as set out above, Participant irrevocably agrees to submit all disputes to the jurisdiction of the competent court at the registered seat of Logitech Europe S.A. in Switzerland.

For the exclusive benefit of Logitech, Logitech shall also retain the right to bring proceedings as to the substance of the matter in the courts of the country of your registration or in the country of Participant’s principal place of business.

ADDITIONAL TERMS

Please review the Devpost Terms of Service at https://info.devpost.com/terms for additional rules that apply to your participation in the Hackathon and more generally your use of the Hackathon Website. Such Terms of Service are incorporated by reference into these Official Rules, including that the term "Poster" in the Terms of Service shall mean the same as "Sponsor" in these Official Rules." If there is a conflict between the Terms of Service and these Official Rules, these Official Rules shall control with respect to this Hackathon only.
