Mission: Democratize Onchain Activity
- All three of us have seen the problem of onchain web3 complexity for users. Small mistakes lead to costly losses (we’ve had a friend lose a $100K Mutant Ape to wallet drainer).
- The onchain world is not beginner friendly. We found it difficult ourselves when we first began.
- But, the best opportunities are onchain. Ordinals, stacks, BRC20, Runes … are all onchain. DeFi, NFTs, Gaming are all onchain. Users must go onchain to fully benefit.
- Richard has been working on AI since his first job out of undergrad in 2015 and leads various LLM projects simplifying crypto complexity. Richard has been with Ordinals since sub10k wants to bring this tech to Ordinals and Bitcoin to help catalyze the immerse potential of Web3 on Bitcoin and make it easier for newer users.
What it does
Performs onchain actions for users from simple questions
- Users can ask xBTCBot to perform onchain tasks, the bot will fully understand the user, and the bot will setup the task for them. UX is as simple as possible - just ask - there is no need to select anything or use precise instructions - the bot will understand and serve it up. If there are issues, the bot will know and flag it to the user. The Bot’s scope is currently Ordinals and Stacks Q&A and BRC20 actions … and can be expanded.
- Also, the bot informs users on information that is obscure and difficult to gather. It is powered by a doc library and understands all the theory and details behind the protocols. It will answer in simple and plain language to newer users as if they had their personal Bitcoin expert to guide them.
- Finally, bot can direct users to marketplaces, dexes, wallets, projects without the need for extensive googling. We will drive traffic to service providers as the bot itself will need to use them. We are not competitors! Should be viewed as an extra traffic funnel.
How we built it
Product:
- 50+ interviews with on-chain users understanding their needs and pain-points
- Deep contextual of Ordinals due to being here since Feb - full context on inscriptions, brc20, indexing, Bitmap, metaprotocol, Stacks, and xSBTC etc - which we used to direct the LLM. Deep contextual understanding of onchain actions from 15+ collective years experience on-chain
Tech:
- Create react front end that can make API calls to perform on chain actions
- Create and train LLM in backend to feed useful data and drive onchain actions
- Deploy out the frontend and backend into a cloud-native solution on Azure
- Secure for live-users now
- Scalable so we can easily ramp it up
Challenges we ran into
- LLMs are new tech and we had to invent novel solutions (but it was fun)
- Ethan: 3 weeks ago had no frontend experience, but now a React, Javascript, and MUI pro
- Richard: 3 weeks ago no Twitter marketing experience but now leading Twitter Spaces
- Forest: 3 weeks ago had never deployed fully end-to-end to cloud but now is a solo pro after fully deploying things with HTTPS, certificate rules, and inbound rules.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We did all of these things in just 3 weeks while having day jobs.
- It's a testament to the capabilities of the team and its extensive on-chain experience.
- Biggest thing in going live in 3 weeks with cutting-edge LLM tech and we didn't face a single challenge we didn't easily handle
What we learned
- Twitter spaces are a great avenue for growth - don't be shy and join in
- Ethan went from compsci senior who'd only done backend to rockstar frontend dev
- Deploying both front and backend to cloud in secure and scalable way
What's next for xBTCBot
