Inspiration
We generate millions of tonnes of garbage every year. There're must be a way for students like us to help. As students, we're all familiar with moving in and out of campus, and all the hassles that come with it, as well as the things that we need to throw away. If we can find a way to trade things that we don't need with other students, we would not need to throw anything away.
What it does
Our application allows users, students, to trade goods or opt to give them away.
How we built it
Figma, Expo
Challenges we ran into
When we were deciding our idea, it was a little difficult to come to a conclusion because we all had different ways to contribute and add; our ideas were also slightly different from one another. It took us a long time to come up with an idea that we all agree on and feel it's feasible.
All our team members are beginners, and this is our first hackathon. Some of us have very limited experience. When we began the coding portion of our process, we discovered that due to our lack of experience, it became very difficult to achieve most of what we planned to do. However, even though we did not complete the project the way that I initially planned, we have come a long way enough for us to be proud of ourselves and our product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We used Expo despite the lack of experience! We're also very proud of our team and our collaboration. It was not easy to pull it altogether since we're all beginners, but we have supported each other and came in when others needed help. Finally, we all learned something through the process, and made new friends!
What we learned
We learned how to work, collaborate, and solve problems together effectively. We learned to use different platforms throughout the process.
What's next for Waffly
Having more users, expanding to different platforms and branching out to reach different types of people.
