Inspiration

People spend several hours daily on their phones, with a significant portion attributed to distraction and unproductive use, including instances where they forget their original purpose for picking up the device. From a student to the working professionals everyone is the victim of this phenomena and so I was which ultimately spun an conceptual application idea which will help you to land where you want to without surfing through the sea of feeds bypassing their intended objectives and only focusing on your intentions and desires. The idea was on halt because I was still on learning process to build production level applications from myself but it was never forgotten. Then I heard about Bolt.new's hackathon challenge from my friend and its 48hrs completely free application building challenge and without a second thought I hopped in.

This marked the starting journey of the Ekagra the universal search application.

What it does

Ekagra meaning focus or concentration in Hindi.

  • Application is like a search engine which redirect your searches to the selected endpoints.
  • The searches can go directly on the selected application's app interface or it will redirect the search through the default browser of the user on the desired website's web interface.
  • Users can access their recent searches on the History tab.
  • Users can create their favorite searches on the favorite tab.
  • Users can also create custom URL endpoints apart from the predefined ones.

For a detailed guide on how to use the application and its features kindly refer to our github repository page or our demo video

How we built it

This app was built for one-shot prompting challenge on bolt.new's platform.

The app is basically built with a single prompt on bolt.new's platform.

The app is using React-Native framework only and Expo is used to build the application for multi-platform compatibility and functionality.

Further refining of the product for submission like integrating the bolt's batch and fixing of some endpoint issues were also handled solely on the bolt's platform on separate git branches.

Developing a production level application was never been so unimaginably fast and near to perfect.

To go through the complete documentation of the build process and prompt I used follow the link: docs

Challenges we ran into

I have had little to no-experience in developing a javascript/typescript based project which felt overwhelming at first but the easy to understand explanation of bolt's builder on each and every step with natural language makes the development process sail.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

With bolt.new's fantastic understanding of the user intent and contextual based application building I am thrilled to have the application on my hand functioning just as I envisioned it once.

What's next for Ekagra?

  • A Native Android build to access more android specific features.
  • A chrome extension to search without any distraction even on the web.
