Inspiration for Unicorn AI

Unicorn AI started with a simple idea: What if you could design AI images WITHOUT PROMPTS? This was my original idea that led me on this journey. And this triggered my bigger goal, how can I make an AI art tool that is so easy, anyone can use it. I want everyone at all ages to be able to create magical images and explore AI art.

What it does

Unicorn AI is the first ever AI App without prompts! Start with one of the many scene backgrounds. Then add whatever layers you want to see. Your new image will magically appear, almost in real-time. It's so easy to get creative with so many fun layers to inspire you. Even better, Unicorn AI supports Apple Pencil, so you can also sketch your ideas and watch them come to life with AI.

How I built it

Unicorn AI is built with Swift and SwiftUI, for a fast responsive interface. My goal was to keep it simple enough so anyone can jump in and start creating.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was fine-tuning the model inputs to get great results without prompts. I aimed for a balance of a simple colorful images versus more complex styles with the Style presets. Go from cute Pixar/Disney characters to dark cyberpunk styles. Again, with no prompts!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What I'm most proud of is how it almost feels like magic when it renders such a cool image based on quickly adding a few layers to a scene. What helps this is the high quality of the layers you have to play with. These aren't simple low-res stickers, but detailed layers that look great.

What we learned

The hardest part was making the app so accessible, which actually takes a lot of work behind-the-scenes. I like busy complex apps, so it's a challenge for me to make things simple and intuitive. I think I did a pretty good job here.

What's next for Unicorn AI

I will continue to add new scenes and layers for users to work with. Unicorn AI is not a static app, but a playful platform that will continue to grow.
