Inspiration

The idea came from observing how repetitive tasks like packaging can lead to fatigue, errors, and low motivation. We wanted to create a solution that helps workers not only be faster and more accurate but also more engaged. Our inspiration came from the combination of productivity platforms and gamification systems — bringing them together to make routine work feel meaningful and rewarding.

What it does

How we built it

Our platform was built using Next.js and TypeScript for a fast, scalable frontend and backend environment. We used MySQL as our main database for storing user performance data and activity logs. Real-time dashboards were implemented using API routes in Next.js and visualized through interactive charts. For the gamification system, we designed a points and rewards algorithm that updates automatically based on completed tasks.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was finding the right balance between usability and analytics depth. We needed a design that was simple enough for new users yet detailed enough to track complex performance data. Another challenge was optimizing database queries to handle real-time updates efficiently without affecting system latency. Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of building a working prototype that integrates gamification with real-time analytics. Our system successfully tracks user productivity while maintaining an intuitive interface. We’re also proud of developing an algorithm that rewards consistency and accuracy, motivating users to improve daily.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned how to design systems that connect human performance metrics with data-driven insights. We explored how small improvements in task efficiency can multiply across a workforce, and how motivation directly impacts overall productivity. We also deepened our understanding of frontend optimization, API design, and real-time data visualization.

What's next for TrueGst

Next, we plan to integrate AI and computer vision to monitor packaging processes in real time, providing personalized recommendations for improvement. We also aim to enhance our gamification system by introducing team challenges, performance badges, and reward tiers to maintain long-term engagement.
