Inspiration

Music has a unique power to anchor memories, emotions, and eras in time. We wanted to create a portal where fans could relive iconic concert moments — even if they never got to attend them. The inspiration came from the magical experience of discovering old setlists, watching tour videos, and exploring global tours that shaped music history.

What it does

TimeTunnel lets users explore fictionalized but highly realistic concert tours of their favorite artists, spanning multiple genres and decades. With dynamic visuals, interactive UI, and AI-powered generation, it provides:

Concert locations + dates
Top songs performed on tour (linked to YouTube)
Artist visuals and immersive tour descriptions

How we built it

Frontend: Built with Next.js and React, styled using glowing retro-futuristic themes and responsive layout design.
Backend: Powered by the Google Gemini API, which generates structured and creative concert data based on artist and year.
Search Flow: Users input an artist and year, and the system fetches a custom concert experience via Gemini.
Genre Navigation: Dynamic routing and UI components support exploration across Pop, Rock, Latin, Hip-Hop, R&B, K-pop, and Country.

Challenges we ran into

Gemini API formatting quirks: We had to validate and parse JSON reliably, ensuring stability across various AI outputs.
Data Display Consistency: Displaying structured song + concert data in a readable, engaging format on all devices.
Cross-genre design alignment: Designing a UI that feels cohesive while representing many music styles.
