Inspiration
When we first heard the theme, we separated the joint idea of Retro Future into its separate counterparts, creating a relatively complex storyline. Then, we presented this as a generally comprehended idea of this team. In doing so, we included many of our creative and technical abilities and created a game we were proud of.
What it does
Our game is a walk through different periods, which are depicted as different levels. For example, we have the 1950s as a diner, the 2020s as the COVID pandemic, and the 2050s as a futuristic space exploration. Each level is like an obstacle course that requires careful control, but they also tell a fun story.
How we built it
We had to use a completely new Java-based software called Construct 3. Other than that, we hand-drew all of the graphics on Procreate and then applied various complex commands and functions to make the game what it is now!
Challenges we ran into
Other than the limited time and sleep, we had to learn to use Construct 3 from scratch. We also had to be very intricate to create the graphics and make the game as appealing as possible. We also had to overcome challenges with group collaboration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We now have the skill of a game development software at our fingertips, after just 24 hours. We came in with no prior experience in game development, but we are proud to have created a game such as Timestamp.
What's next for Timestamp
If we were given more time, we would like to create more levels (ie. more time periods), enhancing the character of this game. We also plan to improve graphics and create our own music to incorporate into Timestamp. We are proud to say we hope to release this as an app.
