🚀 Inspiration

Last year, my colleague Riya (name changed) ran into our cafeteria shaking.
An unknown number had sent her a “video of herself” in a compromising situation—completely fake, generated by AI.
The sender demanded ₹2,00,000 or he’d “email it to her friends and coworkers.”

Riya is brilliant—but in that moment, she felt helpless and ashamed.
She kept saying, “No one will believe it’s fake.”
There was no tool she could use quickly to check the video or get real support.

That’s why we built Sextortion Shield — to flip the power dynamic and give victims:

Riya was our first beta tester—she uploaded the same video, saw “Likely Deep-Fake,” and cried with relief.

No one should face sextortion alone. Now, they don’t have to.

  • AI Counselor: Tavus-powered avatar provides trauma-informed support
  • Pay-it-Forward: Victims or allies can donate to help the next person

A simple, privacy-first, mobile-friendly app—built for moments that matter.

Bolt.new helped scaffold the entire project—deployed rapidly on Netlify.

⚡ Challenges we ran into

  • Balancing privacy while preserving threat evidence
  • Detecting both deep-fakes and real blackmail content
  • Designing an empathetic interface for distressed users
