Inspiration
1980s was the rise of synthwave culture, a form of electronic music. Listening the soothing tunes with sick beats of synthwave tracks has let me focus in studying or working. Listening to those tracks made me want to make them as well. But a professional piano synthesizer is pretty costly and the music production software are rather too fancy to get a hang around of. This inspired us to make a simple to use yet cool looking virtual synthesizer.
What it does
It is a virtual piano synthesizer that will let you play the basic notes of a piano and add other groovy effects to it. Even if you don't understand the features of the synthesizer, just playing around with the keys and the various features can give you cool sounds.
How we built it
We used LabView, a virtual instrumentation software, for both the backend and frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Making the UI was rather difficult on LabView as it's not very aestheticism oriented.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to make a software that is based on our taste in music.
What we learned
The depths of music engineering and instrumentation that we never explored before.
What's next for SynthwaveUI
A professional synthesizer have a lot of features that under time constraint we couldn't put, we will keep adding more features to it.
