A real world problem that we all faced inspired us to build this app.
"Why is it still so hard to exchange contact information?" When we meet someone new, we're still typing each other's information into the phone to create a new contact. From the name, to phone number and perhaps email. Then we go about searching for each other on social media to add and or follow.
This process is incredibly broken.
Swapp, the app, aims to address this problem. With Swapp, you can effortlessly swapp contact information. It takes two taps - first you tap the app to open it, point to the other person phone and tap scan.
The core technology powering the app is QR code. The other person being scanned can simply tap open Swapp to display her/his QR code for you. The QR code contains the other person's name, phone number, email and possibly Facebook and Twitter links in the future. Once scanned, the contact is automatically created in your device contact list in the background. You can simply keep on socializing.
What if the person doesn't have Swapp? Well, we're working on text recognition so that eventually you can point to that person's information page and the app can parse out the necessary information in the background.
For the minimal viable product version, we're built out the QR code scanning feature and a clean user interface with 36 hours of hard work. Our target is everyone with a smartphone, Android phone to start.
