Summarize

Inspiration

We were inspired by students often having to watch many online lectures and videos due to the current pandemic.

What it does

Uses two different methods to summarize a video (extraction and abstraction). One uses an text-rank algorithm while the other uses a machine learning algorithm

How I built it

We used python to build the summarizers and React. The summarize algorithms are hosted using Python Flask.

Challenges I ran into

Asynchronous calls between the flask server and the site. Tensorflow models being too large to upload

I worked on connecting the frontend to the backend using HTTP requests from our JavaScript code to our Python backend using Heroku

I primarily worked on the frontend using React.JS. This was my second time using React so I felt more confident than I did before and I was able to write cleaner and more optimized code than last time.
