🧠 StuWell — AI-Powered Student Health & Wellbeing Tracker

Inspiration

Students silently sacrifice their health due to academics, screen overload, and irregular routines. Most health issues don’t appear suddenly - they grow slowly from daily habits.

The idea behind StuWell was simple: If students become aware of their health early, serious problems can be prevented. Unlike fitness apps, StuWell focuses on student lifestyle, not workouts.

What it does

StuWell is an AI-powered preventive healthcare web app for students. ⏱️ Daily health input in under 30 seconds 📊 Instant dashboard snapshot with rule-based suggestions 🤖 AI-generated weekly health report based on the last 7 days cycle ⚠️ Ethical AI usage — no diagnosis, only suggestions and pattern analalyzation

Daily inputs include: Water intake Study hours Screen time Junk food (Yes / No) Nutrients consumed most Symptoms (enum-based) Overall mood

How we built it

Tech Stack Frontend: EJS, Tailwind CSS Backend: Node.js, Express.js Database: MongoDB AI: Gemini API Hosting: Render

Note: The app is hosted on Render (free tier). Initial load may take up to 30 seconds due to server cold start. This is expected behavior, not an error.

Data flows in a weekly cycle: Daily Inputs → 7-Day Aggregation→AI Pattern Analysis→Health Insights Daily Inputs→7-Day Aggregation→AI Pattern Analysis→Health Insights

Challenges we ran into

Alogorithms for daily insight Designing a health-input UX that takes < 30 seconds Structuring data so AI analyzes patterns, not individual days Keeping AI outputs ethical & non-diagnostic Triggering AI analysis on Day 1 for demo while maintaining a 7-day logic

Accomplishments that we're proud of Solo-built, full-stack, hosted working product Clean AI integration with real pattern analysis

Student-focused UX (fast, simple, non-overwhelming) Clear medical disclaimer for responsible AI usage Successfully combined HealthTech + AI/ML

What we learned

Preventive healthcare depends on consistency, not complexity AI is most effective when used for trend detection UX matters more than features in habit-based apps Responsible AI needs clear boundaries Small daily data can reveal big health insights

What's next for StuWell

⌚ Smartwatch & wearable integration 🔥 Advanced streak & habit analytics 🔔 Notification reminders (when native support allows) 📚 Academic stress–based personalization
