Inspiration
To get inspiration for this project, we looked through everyday items we use. Everyday uses of technology were brought up during the discussion, and the idea of an online planner emerged. Adding a tie-fighter blowing up tasks when you delete them, or r2d2 spinning uncontrollably in the background randomly was a part of some of our crazy ideas. From there on, we set out to make a star war's based productivity workspace that is internet based.
What it does
This website lets you make a to-do list and has the potential to save information through log-in/sign-up data. Due to last-minute software conflicts with firebase, we weren't able to see this through to the final update of our project.
How we built it
We used CSS for the front end, JS for the back end, and HTML for both the back and front end.
Challenges we ran into
The first roadblock we encountered while developing this project was with coming up with the idea. As a team consisting of two beginners, the idea had to be simple yet creative. Another major roadblock was updating the font and color scheme. Finally, we did run into issues with firebase log-in and our database.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made a simple, yet creative site in less than 24 hours being complete beginners. We learned about how to use firebase, among also learned about CSS and animations.
What we learned
We learned how to use Firebase, complex functions in CSS and JS, animation within objects, and UI design.
What's next for StarList
StarList is in its early stages of development, and the developer has big plans for it in the future. Our original design included a quick glance monthly calendar, folders to organize your tasks, a timer feature to keep you on track, more eye-catching animations, and being able to customize the UI.
