Inspiration

Universe is vast, and its history is filled with incredible events that have shaped our understanding of space and the world around us. We were inspired by the idea that each day holds a unique piece of this cosmic puzzle. Whether it's a historic moon landing, a groundbreaking discovery, or an astronomical phenomenon, there's always something remarkable to learn about space.

What it does and How we built it

We're a group of passionate space enthusiasts who created this platform in the form of a website to share the awe-inspiring stories of our cosmos with you. Our mission is to make space exploration accessible to everyone by providing a simple and engaging way to discover the significance of each day in space history.

Through our website, the user chooses a date and our website displays fascinating information and image i.e the picture of that day on Space Hacks website. Our website uses the data directly from NASA API called APOD. The website is built on HTML, CSS, Javascript on Visual Studio Code IDE.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we encountered through our building process was that we were not aware about how to use any API since we had never before. This was our first time making use of valuable API namely NASA API - APOD, and hence we discovered how to connect an API with our website. Another challenge was to find an API which meets are requirements of the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that through this Hackathon called Girl Hacks, we could learn so many valuable skills and concepts. We discovered various APIs and were able to choose the API which meets our requirements.

What we learned

We learned coding a website through HTML, CSS and Javascript. We learnt how to make user input date through which website displays information on the screen. We also learnt new technical skills like making use of API.

What's next for Space Hacks

Space Hacks next step would be to train our model to accept various kinds of Space related questions (related to specific Planets, asteroids, Moon, Stars and our celestial bodies of Space), and our website will be able to display the answer or information and images to the related questions. We would try making use of new APIs or Models taking inspiration of new technologies coming up after all we are here to learn!
