Inspiration

The inspiration for Solway, the decentralized hotel booking system, comes from a desire to create a more fair and accessible travel experience. The traditional hotel booking industry is dominated by a few large companies that often charge high commission fees and hide additional charges from the customer, leading to a less-than-ideal experience for both the hotel and the traveler.

What it does

Solway is a decentralized hotel booking platform that provides a more efficient and transparent way for travelers to book their hotel stays. It utilizes blockchain technology to eliminate intermediaries and provide a direct connection between the hotel and the traveler. This allows for real-time availability and transparent pricing, providing a cost-effective and efficient booking experience.

Additionally, Solway leverages AI technology to offer personalized recommendations and trip planning assistance, making it easier for travelers to find and book their ideal hotel stays. With Solway, travelers can enjoy a more informed and convenient hotel booking process, all while supporting a more decentralized and fair travel industry.

How we built it

Solway was built using a combination of cutting-edge technologies to provide a decentralized and efficient hotel booking experience. The platform leverages:

  • Solana Pay for secure payments and transactions on the blockchain
  • Phantom, a Solana wallet, for a seamless login system
  • OpenAI API for AI-powered travel planning assistance, making it easier for travelers to find and book their ideal hotel stays

By using these technologies, Solway provides a more direct connection between the hotel and the traveler, eliminating intermediaries and providing real-time availability and transparent pricing. The AI-powered travel planning feature adds a level of convenience and personalized recommendations, making the hotel booking process even more user-friendly.

Challenges we ran into

Building a complex project in just two days is no small feat, and I understand that the project may not be fully complete at this time. However, I assure you that I will continue to work on it even after HackCommerce. Despite facing numerous errors and bugs, I have been pushing through and dedicating countless hours to make the web app as user-friendly as possible. I decided to create a separate organization for Solway, and after several attempts, I was able to successfully deploy the project. I also decided to implement OpenAI API, but due to the limited time, I focused on the frontend and smart contract for payments. I encountered some challenges related to Solana pay but I found a solution by using templates. It was not an easy journey but I learned a lot from it and I hope that Solway will be a great service for travelers. This project is proof that with hard work and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle and make our dream come true.

As a new platform, Solway has yet to establish a track record of accomplishments. However, if the platform is successful, there are several accomplishments that the team behind Solway can be proud of:
