Inspiration
Designing solar systems used to take us hours—sometimes days—of manual load calculations, system sizing, pricing, and proposal writing. Customers, however, expect answers almost immediately. With the rapid improvement of Google’s Gemini AI, it became obvious that this entire workflow could be automated. Solala Solar was born to reduce solar system design and proposal generation from days to just 5 minutes.
What it does
Solala Solar enables remote solar system design by automatically estimating energy needs, calculating system size and costs, generating component requirements, and producing a professional, ready-to-send proposal—all in minutes.
How we built it
We built Solala Solar using TypeScript, integrating the Gemini API through Google AI Studio. Carefully engineered prompts allow the AI to analyze energy usage, size solar components, estimate costs, and generate clear, structured proposals.
Challenges we ran into
Debugging complex logic without AI support initially slowed development. Once we leaned fully into Gemini—providing better context and structured prompts—problem-solving became significantly faster and more efficient.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Fully remote solar system design
- AI-powered load and energy demand estimation
- Automatic sizing of panels, inverters, batteries, and other components
- Instant generation of professional solar proposals
What we learned
We gained hands-on experience integrating the Gemini API to perform real-world engineering calculations, automate decision-making, and generate high-quality technical and business documents.
What's next for Solala Solar
We plan to engage more solar installers and customers, refine the platform based on real-world usage, and raise pre-seed funding to accelerate growth.
