We envision a future where access to quality healthcare is equitable for all individuals, irrespective of race or socioeconomic status.

Premise:

The proposal identifies the expanding market for wearable technology and highlights the potential for a wearable oral health tracker. It emphasizes the significance of oral health as a window into overall health and the need for easily accessible monitoring solutions. Dental issues like cavities are common and can significantly impact quality of life and finances. Prevention through early detection is seen as the most equitable solution.

Product:

The proposed product is a wearable oral health tracker paired with a companion app. It allows users to monitor their teeth and gum health from home, with the app providing detailed information on oral microbiome, cavity risk factors, and personalized courses of action. The device focuses on saliva analysis for general health assessment and preliminary diagnosis of oral diseases like cavities.

Procedure:

For user convenience, the process involves visiting a local dentist for teeth impressions, or using an approved at-home impression kit. The company then sends back custom aligners with mini bioengineered chips for each tooth. These chips assess dental health and transmit data to the companion app. The app facilitates image capture or scanning for assessment, enabling users to monitor their dental health remotely.

Market Potential:

The proposal suggests targeting schools for student check-ups to mitigate unplanned dental care's impact on education. Additionally, it envisions household use to reduce multiple dental appointments by providing an overview of dental issues and guidance towards remedies as the device becomes more affordable.

Technological Approach:

The project utilizes Flask, HTML5, CSS, CAD, and Matlab. Challenges were encountered in translating Matlab functions to Flask and learning the Flask framework.
