Inspiration
Many teen girls grow up with little accurate information about menstrual health. Conversations about periods are often treated as embarrassing or hidden, which leads to confusion, fear, and misinformation. We were inspired by real experiences where friends felt uncomfortable asking basic health questions or didn’t know what was normal.
We wanted to create a safe digital companion that replaces stigma with knowledge. SheSync was built to give girls privacy, education, and confidence — all in one place.
What it does
SheSync is a teen-friendly menstrual health platform that combines education, tracking, and emotional support. It includes:
A simple private cycle tracker
Myth vs fact quizzes to fight misinformation
Health education cards in easy language
Mood tracking to connect emotional and physical wellbeing
Privacy-first design for sensitive data
SheSync is not just a tracker — it is a learning tool that empowers girls to understand their bodies and normalize health conversations.
How we built it
We designed SheSync with accessibility and comfort in mind. The interface uses calm colors and a friendly layout to feel welcoming rather than clinical.
We separated the app into clear modules: tracking, education, and mood support. This allowed us to build each feature step by step while keeping the experience smooth and beginner-friendly.
Our focus was simplicity. Every feature was designed so a first-time user could understand it instantly without instructions.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was presenting health information in a way that is accurate but not overwhelming. We had to rewrite explanations many times to make them supportive and easy to understand.
Another challenge was building meaningful features within a short hackathon timeline. We had to prioritize what would create the biggest impact while keeping the app polished.
Privacy was also a key concern. Because menstrual health is personal, we focused on creating a safe and respectful user experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a platform that tackles a real social stigma in a respectful and empowering way.
We successfully combined education, tracking, and emotional wellbeing into one simple tool. Most importantly, we built something that teen girls can actually relate to and feel safe using.
Turning a sensitive topic into an approachable digital experience is something we consider a major achievement.
What we learned
We learned that technology is most powerful when it solves human problems with empathy. Designing for real people requires understanding emotions, not just writing code.
We also learned how important user experience is when dealing with sensitive topics. Words, colors, and layout can change how safe someone feels using an app.
This project taught us to prioritize impact over complexity.
What's next for SheSync
Future versions of SheSync could include:
AI-powered anonymous health Q&A
Multilingual education support
Partnerships with schools and health educators
Verified medical resources integration
Community awareness tools
Our long-term vision is to make menstrual health education accessible, private, and stigma-free for every girl.
SheSync is a step toward confidence, equality, and informed health decisions.
