Scribed emerged from the need to enhance the traditional note-taking experience. Recognizing the challenges of capturing lecture content accurately and the frustration of disjointed audio and written notes, we envisioned a tool that synchronizes them seamlessly. By combining handwritten with real-time audio recording, Scribed empowers users to revisit any part of a lecture or meeting with a single tap. The app bridges the gap between listening and learning, ensuring users never miss a moment of valuable information.

What it does ❓

Scribed revolutionizes note-taking by integrating audio recordings with written notes. Key features include: Time-Synced Notes: Tap any note to jump to the exact moment in the recording when it was written. Search Functionality: Using the Samba Nova API, users can search keywords to find when they were mentioned in the transcript, complete with playback of the corresponding audio. Saved Sessions: Store and organize your notes and audio files for easy access and review. Effortless Playback: Revisit specific sections of a lecture or meeting, ensuring no details are overlooked.

How we built it 🛠️

Scribed was developed using Swift on Xcode, with Samba Nova API powering keyword search functionalities. Audio Integration: Recorded audio is synchronized with user notes using timestamp data. User-Friendly Interface: A sleek, minimalistic design ensures seamless navigation, making it easy for users to organize and review their notes.

Challenges we ran into 😣

Synchronization Complexity: Ensuring notes and audio remained perfectly aligned required precise timestamp management. Transcript Accuracy: Integrating the API to provide keyword searches matched the right audio segments. Optimizing Performance: Balancing real-time recording and note-taking without performance lag was a significant hurdle.
