Inspiration
Most portfolios today prioritize flair over usability, filled with overused, trendy visuals and distracting effects. Knowing that recruiters spend only a few seconds evaluating a site, I set out to create a portfolio that emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and quick understanding - allowing my skills and potential to stand out without distractions.
What it does
This portfolio showcases my contacts, education, experience, projects, and contributions through a clean and intuitive interface. It’s designed to provide a seamless experience where visitors can quickly learn about me without ever feeling lost.
How I built it
This project was built with Next.js for optimal performance and SEO. I used an array of objects to dynamically render project and experience details, ensuring easy scalability. Tailwind CSS was also used for fast, responsive, and consistent styling.
Challenges I ran into
One major challenge was aligning the design with recruiter reading patterns. I analyzed visual heatmaps to understand how they scan resumes and used those insights to structure the portfolio’s layout. I also focused on improving SEO and discoverability through semantic HTML and keyword optimization in Next.js, while ensuring full responsiveness and theme-based dynamic project previews.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Built a portfolio that prioritizes usability and aligns with recruiter reading patterns based on heatmap research.
- Optimized SEO and discoverability using semantic HTML, strategic keywords, and Next.js features.
- Developed a fully responsive interface with dynamic light/dark mode project previews.
- Created a scalable and maintainable structure, dynamically rendering projects, experience, and education.
- Delivered a fast, clean, and intuitive experience that allows visitors to quickly understand my skills and potential.
What I learned
Through this project, I gained valuable insights into user-centered design, learning how to align content and layout with real-world reading patterns. I strengthened my skills in Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and responsive design, while deepening my understanding of SEO, accessibility, and theme-aware interfaces. I also learned how to structure data dynamically for scalability and maintainability, and how thoughtful design and technical choices can work together to create a portfolio that is both visually appealing and highly functional.
