Inspiration

Road trips should be fun, spontaneous, and hassle-free—but they're often the opposite. Finding good stops, tracking routes, handling safety, and keeping entertained can be a mess. Roami solves that.

What We Built

Roami is an AI-powered co-pilot that helps both drivers and passengers by:
✅ Recommending stops & detours based on gas prices, scenic routes, and history.
✅ Generating fun activities (Geoguessr, road trip bingo, interactive stories).
✅ Enhancing the trip with AI (historical "Time Machine Mode," voice control, real-time tour guide).

How We Built It

• Frontend: Next.js, TailwindCSS, Radix UI, Framer Motion.
  
• Backend: FastAPI, Firebase for storage.
  
• AI & APIs: Cerebras (AI processing), Moondream (vision), Kokoro (STT), Whisper, OpenStreetMap, Wikimedia, YT-dlp.

• Speech-to-text accuracy (Kokoro vs. Whisper tuning).
  
• Realtime AI recommendations without lag.
  
• Making UI intuitive for both passengers & drivers.
