Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came during our research phase, when we came across teenagers' stories who were bullied online, through different social media apps. We saw a positive, strong, correlation between student's being bullied online, and then being bullied in person when the situation escalated. As a result, we decided to create a website which would raise awareness of this issue, and also allow students to anonymously report any incident of cyberbullying they see taking place.
What it does
Informs the audience of specific cyberbullying and cybersecurity threats. The "symptoms" that can occur to prevent the situation from escalating and worsening.
How we built it
We used different frameworks and languages. Using Figma and UI/UX we designed the web framework, and to code it all we used CSS and HTML, after writing down our plan, rethinking our design to be efficient, and logically basing it on the research we have completed.
Challenges we ran into
Sometimes the code did not run, so logically rethinking where we made a mistake. The designs were challenging as well: we wanted to captivate the audience's attention, while not boring them so to ascertain they would not skip any section.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing the project that would have a realistic approach to change the world (even if it is in a small sense), the hard work, and dedication it took to come together as a team from NYC and establish footing at our first ever hackathon.
What we learned
Learned new coding applications in CSS and HTML. The applications allow for tables, navigations, headers, and structures of a webpage which we were able to create by learning more CSS and HTML, since we came into the hackathon as beginners in those languages but felt we would get the most out of our experience with learning a new language.
What's next for RDRM
We plan on expanding the website to deal with more internet related threats
