Inspiration
The real world was too main stream.
How it works
Using the Oculus Rift and Leapmotion development kits, our objective was to intertwine a single environment for two players on separate machines into a two-player FPS game. Each player is able to view the other's position and activity in real time. Whoever inflicts the most damage to the opposing player wins. A web server hosted by Amazon Web Services manages data transfer between two environments that run in parallel and updates each user interface when two players are connected.
Challenges I ran into
- Learning Unity3d IDE.
- Learning Node.js and implementing it via AWS.
- Developing gestures that dictate certain events in our game.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Back-end server development in Node.js
- Utilized successful motion gestures that are recognized by the Leapmotion and triggers events.
- Developed an interface via Unity3d
What I learned
- Unity3d
- Node.js
- Oculus Rift SDK
- Leapmotion SDK
- C# development
What's next for Rampage Rift
