Sometimes we all need a bit of motivation to start the day.
Conventional motivational quotes on the internet have several issues. There are too many on the internet and they often don’t connect well with the audience. Then there’s the biggest problem of all: what kind of unmotivated person wants to be googling motivational quotes to be pumped up about their day?
Quotability is a Google Chrome extension that tackles these problems directly by replacing your new tab with an inspirational quote.
The pool of inspirational quotes comes directly from our users. Users can submit their favourite quotes through the extension under a username, or completely anonymous if they wish. A profanity filter is in place to prevent users from submitting harmful quotes with profane language.
These quotes are then presented to users when they open a new tab. An algorithm that accounts for quotes that are well liked by others and for how recent the quote is ensures that users will be seeing only the most relevant quotes. If users enjoy the quote, they can choose to give it a like. The top 5 most liked quotes and the users who submitted them can be seen by accessing the leaderboard. This leaderboard exists so that competitive users who really want to share their positivity with the world can be recognized for their efforts.
Our hope is to create a community where people can give each other the support they need — that there are other people out there who want to see them succeed.
