Inspiration

We were inspired to make this project after seeing the vast knowledge gap in our generation for financial literacy, due to an inequality of high quality education. We wanted to provide a free, easy tool for young people in our generation to get into finances and learn through a credible value based approach.

What it does

Our website is meant to help beginners learn more about finance and stocks so that they can feel confident about investing instead of being overwhelmed or discouraged. It provides the user with lots of beginner-friendly information and questions to check their understanding. At the end, there is a simulator to test and apply their knowledge and show what their money can do for them if invested properly.

How we built it'

We used a tech stack which included in the frontend, React, Vite, Tailwind, and JSX. For the backend we used the Gemini API, AWS Amplify, Python, and Supabase.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges we ran into include merge conflicts, and communication between the backend and front end when it came to pulling and pushing from main. We also ran into several learning curves relating to integrating AWS services, being rate limited by some of our APIs such as Supabase, and also issues with connecting frontend and backend together to update values.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our organization and planning skills and how we managed our time, we completed many parts of the project earlier than expected and we kept a structure in place to know when and how we would go about doing tasks we needed and wanted to do.

What we learned

We learned a lot about fullstack development and working more cohesively in a group with others who are all leading separate tasks with various responsibilities.

What's next for Project Prometheus

What's next for our project is that we want to further integrate the backend and frontend by updating our leaderboard to have the correct values that change over time when new users register and run their simulations.
