What it does

It is a series of suggestion and approaches which can make the hackathon process smoother for all participants.

What is a hackathon

Hackathon is a tool to drive sustained innovation and crowdsource solutions to address pressing real-life business problems and social issues.

• Making great demos
• Finding teammates
• To many participants
• No insights into the experience of the hackathon

Solutions

• To solve Lack of clear tutorials the hackathon team should provide easy to follow documentation or tutorials when specific tools or APIs are being used.
• Making great demos is hard therefore a demo checklist and example should be provided for hackathon participants. It can contain things like How to outline the video, what tools to use, what to demo, how to pace yourself, how to showcase the solution so that it matches audience expectations and how to speak clearly during the demo
• Finding the right teammates to collaborate with is usually tough. Some suggests to counteract this is to have a matching algorithm with takes into consideration the hackers level, speciality, experience and timezone.
• Some hackathons have so many participants that the odds of winning dwindles a lot. To counter this having a cap on the number of participants could be a good idea
• Hackathon insights. It can be hard to get an understanding on how a hackathon would be. Being able to provide some metrics into how a hackathon went could be helpful for people when signing up for a hackathon done by a returning hackathon submitter
