The Problem
Challenge: Best Hack for Education Due to the onslaught of the Coronavirus, education has become significantly more difficult as classrooms move online. Edtech is more important than ever. What would make your life as a student more efficient? What tech would benefit other students? Create a website or service that’s useful for education.
Inspiration
When we as students think back to when virtual learning first started, we remember the influx of time in our daily schedules. Being able to learn from home means that we save time. We no longer have to commute to school or spend time walking to our classes. Many of us were unsure of how to use this extra time as efficiently as possible.
Productively fixes this problem. The user can enter the type of activity they would like to spend their time doing and be given ideas through the website. Examples of activities include picking up a new skill and relaxing.
Challenges I ran into
I ran into many formatting problems in which the website would format incorrectly on different devices. It took me some time to make sure that the website would format properly regardless of the size of the user's screen.
Accomplishments I'm proud of
This is my first time creating a locally hostable, fully-functioning website. I'm proud that, in the end, I was able to create a modern website with an attractive user interface.
What's next for Productively?
In the future, our website will categorize activities by their recommended age range, difficulty level, time required, and soft skills developed. The website will provide a survey to the user in which they fill out information about themselves, so that the website can find an activity that better fits the user.
In addition, I plan to add a "develop a new skill" button in which the user can practice skills that they have already started. This feature will utilize data from the new skill button.
