Inspiration

We wanted to build a multiplayer game that leverages the unique capabilities of the Snap Spectacles. We were inspired by the drama and simplicity of an old fashioned duel.

What it does

The game starts with both players confirming their starting position. Each round, the players get one shot to pop the other's balloon. The limited shots make each attempt valuable, and heighten the tension of a miss. The game ends once one player pops the other's balloon.

How we built it

We also kept in mind both the current strengths and constraints of the device. For example hand tracking, and physics are strong suits so we played with mechanics that involved throwing/launching projectiles via hand gestures. FOV is a constraint, so we focused on a game that involved minimal visuals at enough of a distance from the player so as to fit neatly into what the Spectacles can see... minimizing clipping that might take away from immersion.

Challenges we ran into

Lens Studio is also new for most of us, so we spent A LOT of time on getting project setup and fixing errors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got a bow to fire a projectile and a balloon above someone's head to pop!!!

What we learned

We learned a lot about Lens Studio, particularly about the nuances of connected lenses.

What's next for Popped

Polish and release!
