Inspiration

Sites such as Facebook Events are rather untrustworthy, since anyone can post anything, and they can pay to be verified; and sites like EventBrite or TicketMaster don't build communities through their platforms, they just sell a product, so we wanted to make it just right, introducing PoGo!

What it does

PoGo! Is a Progressive Web Application where an organization or a user can post an event to be seen by the community. Users can be organizations such as a college or a social group, a verified user who wants to build a community, or an unverified user who posts events to a site.

How we built it

We utilized web development libraries in react to develop the front end of the website, we incorporated HTML, CSS, JavaScript and some TypeScript. For the back end we utilized Firebase to store records.

Challenges we ran into

Incorporating different elements from react and styles of JavaScript was complicated, as it was difficult to settle down on how to approach the application to make it interactive for the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We learned key elements of web development as well as app development. One of the key takeaways for our team, is that we successfully connected the work done in the front end to the back end Database. We are also proud to have successfully implemented the Google Maps API to bring a unique and inovative interface for the user.

What we learned

We learned many different technologies that we were unfamiliar with, starting with react, we also learned that TypeScript is a variant of JavaScript that allows developers to create more interactive apps.

What's next for PoGo!

This application model was designed to be escalable for organizations, while at the same time keeping a friendly and accessible interface for the users. We successfully created a friendly user interface, and the next step would be to create a system that allows organizations to be registered to PoGo! to post their events.
