Inspiration
How many times have I got my heart broken due to my system closing all my open Chrome tabs :(
But no more would I allow this to happen to myself >.<
With the help of AI, I have built a better version of Pocket, a popular URL-saving and sharing tool, that not just saves URLs, but also resurfaces them as and when I browse other sites, curates them, summarises and tags them, even converts them into an audio format for easier consumption and the best part . . . . it creates daily digest for much better consumption at the end of the day, so that you can sleep knowing that you have no more pending tabs left to be read frantically before the system decides to close Chrome down :D
What it does
- Saves URLs
- Parses, summarises and tags URLs (blogs, youtube, twitter threads)
- Converts them to audio podcasts
- Compiles all the saved URLs of the day into a daily roundup and creates an audio digest of the same
- Resurfaces similar URLs from the past based on current browser URL
How we built it
Used cohere APIs for summarization, tagging, and similarity coefficient Used Assembly APIs for transcription, summarization Used Uberduck APIs for text2speech Used Stability APIs to create an image for a daily digest
Challenges we ran into
- Replit as a backend often takes time to load and often shuts down
- Chrome plugins are a pain as well given browser restrictions
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Came up with a decent idea
- Built it in a day
What we learned
- As a noob in AI, this was a eye-opener as to how much power current tools have and how fun it is to use them to build useful and delightful experiences
What's next for PocketGPT
- Make it available for beta testing
- Launch it as a side business and see how it helps others
Built With
- assemblyai
- cohere
- javascript
- python
- stabilityai
- uberduck
