Inspiration
Placorama was born from the idea that games don’t always need competition, speed, or stress. I wanted to create a comfort space — a place where players can slow down, relax, and express creativity through interior design.
What it does
Placorama is a cozy room-decoration game and digital comfort space where players design their own interiors at their own pace. You launch the app can continue when you left of or start new adventure - just click new pick theme and level style and you can start. You can keep it simple and quickly finish or can go deeper and do what you want.
How we built it
We built Placorama natively on Reddit using the Devvit platform. The game frontend uses React for UI and PixiJS for real-time isometric rendering, enabling smooth drag-and-drop room decoration directly inside Reddit.
All assets were generated using AI-assisted workflows and refined manually to maintain a cohesive cozy Scandinavian visual style.
Challenges we ran into
A key challenge was enabling users to share finished rooms directly to Reddit. While our engine can render room images, Devvit currently does not support uploading generated images as posts or comments via API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Quick development of working version - still yet prototype but fully working. Big help is devvit platform that handles hosting and has nice api
What we learned
That devvit is great platform for building - still have lot to learn and try. But is a great place for our future projects.
What's next for Placorama
Finishing the reddit version of placorama. Adding game style modes - to have quick building mode vs a bit deeper for users that want to spend more time refining their creations. Mobile application for ios and Android.
