Inspiration
The opportunity of using VR as a medium to experience new emotions that are otherwise impossible to attain.
What it does
It allows you to fly a fighter jet in a safe environment and experience the thrill of being in control of a plane at high altitudes.
How I built it
We built it using Unity 3D and an Oculus Rift connected to the computer, creating a virtually infinite world where the player
Challenges I ran into
Getting the physics realistic enough to make it believable without the difficulty of piloting a real plane, making the world infinite to never stop moving forward if wanted, without having performance issues and keeping the terrain somewhat varied.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The chunk loading system to generate the terrain based on the current position of the player, the plane controls, having a finished prototype in just one day.
What I learned
3D modelling in Blender, plane physics, more in depth how Unity works
What's next for Pilot Training VR
Refining graphics, having more types of enemies, improve the controls even more, have objectives and stages. Include an advanced mode with more challenging (and realistic) controls.
