Inspiration

With e-commerce as a tool, it is becoming easier for pet parents to lead a hassle-free pet-parenting life. People are becoming more aware of their pets' health and hygiene needs. This leads to a demand for quality and affordable pet care products that can improve the health and well-being of pets. Shopping online, and browsing through the large assortment of pet food and category is now easier. Pet care businesses are not only built on products and services but also rely on kindness and compassion. Since multiple studies show that dogs and therapy dogs help alleviate stress and anxiety,dogs help us cope with crisis, dogs make us more social, dogs make us happier and having a dog improves your physical well-being and encourages a healthy fitness, we developed an e-commerce website, PetPup, for pet owners' dog pet products to support their dog pets' end-to-end needs.

What it does

PetPuP provides an efficient user interface for the user to navigate through different dog products like food products, clothes, comfy houses, play products, etc of different brands like Pedigree, etc. The users can add the products to the cart, can buy the products, and can apply filters like Brand, price, size, and so on. The users can also contact the admins for any queries.

How we built it

We started the project by discovering the abundant features available in Velo by Wix to create a beautiful user interface. We explored the read-made templates built in Velo by Wix and used our Canva made designs on it. We also used the back-end database available in Velo by Wix. Overall we explored a whole lot of functions in Velo by Wix and how it made a fully functional full-stack website so much easier to build.

Challenges we ran into

Working on a project, online with a team is still a perplexity we were facing as we don't have much experience working under a such pressure-inducing situation. Even though Velo by Wix helped a lot in collaborating and allowed us to work together on the code and Front-end. Online communication is still not much efficient but we know that with time and participating in such hackathons will teach us how to deal with such situations.
This was our first time using the backend in Velo by Wix. So we had to figure that out in the limited time frame which was quite a challenge for us.
Plus, we had to face the template of using a ready-made template and designing it to our requirements which were again quite difficult to accomplish in the given time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One accomplishment we are proud of during this project is the successful implementation of an e-commerce website, PetPup, that supports pet owners' end-to-end needs for their dog pets. This included providing an efficient user interface for navigating through different dog products of various brands, adding products to a cart, and purchasing them, as well as implementing filters and a contact feature for queries. We are also proud of utilizing Velo by Wix to create a beautiful user interface and explore ready-made templates. Additionally, we were able to overcome the challenges we faced during the project such as working on a project online with a team, using the backend in Velo by Wix for the first time, and figuring out how to design a ready-made template for our requirements.

During the making of this project, we learned a few key skills and lessons. Some of these include:

The importance of effective communication and collaboration when working on a project online with a team. We learned how to navigate the challenges that come with remote teamwork and found ways to work efficiently and effectively together.
The capabilities of Velo by Wix as a platform for building a fully functional full-stack website. We learned how to use ready-made templates, explore the features of the platform, and implement a backend database.
The importance of user experience and design in creating a successful e-commerce website. We learned how to create an efficient user interface and implement features such as filters and a contact page to enhance the user experience.
The value of effective time management and the ability to work under pressure. We learned how to prioritize tasks and manage our time effectively to accomplish our goals within the given time frame.

What's next for PetPup

There are several ways that PetPup could be improved and made more impactful in the future. Some potential next steps include:

Integrate more advanced search and filtering options, such as the ability to search for products based on specific dietary requirements or allergies.
Adding a feature for creating a personalized pet profile to allow for better product recommendations based on the specific needs of the pet.
Adding a feature for customer reviews and ratings, which would allow customers to get a better idea of the quality of products before making a purchase.
Creating an online community or forum where customers can share tips, advice, and stories about their pet parenting experiences.
Adding more products and categories to the website, such as pet grooming products and pet training equipment, to make the website a one-stop shop for all pet parenting needs.
Implementing a loyalty program and discounts for regular customers.
Partnering with pet shelters and rescue organizations, to donate a portion of profits from the website to help support their efforts and promote the adoption of pets.
