Inspiration

My brother has a landscaping business and ha always asked me to help him calculate the area he needs to work on, because most of the time its not a simple shape and i'm better at doing math than him :) I was thinking about the built-in Measurements app, what if i create a version that is designed towards more professional users.

What it does

You can place multiple pins to outline your area using the AR features available on iOS, then it generates a detailed blueprint with all the measurements that you can export as PDF. You can also save your blueprints, so you can revisit later. It will calculate the perimeter and area values, and you can also quickly calculate the volume(for example how much concrete you need) in various units.

How we built it

The app itself is a native Swift/SwiftUI app, no backend, runs locally on the phone and then i integrated RevenueCat to do an IAP paywall.

Challenges we ran into

Creating scalable blueprint of the marked points and then exporting that to a nice looking pdf blueprint was the hardest part.

What we learned

ARKit and how easy it was to get started with IAPs using RevenueCat(even though its just a simple one time purchase for now)

What's next for Perimeter

Marketing... and i have some ideas, but want to get relevant user feedback first, because other professions might require features i wasn't thinking of, but would be easy to implement.
