Inspiration
Uttara - the grade 7 girl in India who has all the determination to make a difference, but no way to know how she can make one. Her world is limited by the boundaries of her village, not by the boundlessness of the globe.
We're here to change that.
What it does
P4P is a mentorship and education platform, connecting students from grades 1-12 in impoverished, developing areas with either peers (for grades 6-12) or seniors who can teach them STEM skills. Currently, the focus is on math (especially for younger grades) and coding. Volunteers from developed countries both teach and donate an old phone for use by the other end student.
How I built it
Currently Origami was used to prototype it, but the long term vision is a mobile responsive website so that it can be opened on any platform (iPhone, android, etc.)
Challenges I ran into
Learning a new prototyping platform.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Cross platform adaptation with a high fidelity prototype and business plan.
What I learned
To use new platform, design from customer perspective and learn how coding can change lives of even younger students. First visual coding experience.
What's next for Peer4Peer
Business sponsorships, platform development.
