Inspiration

Increased amounts of trash, particularly plastics and lost or discarded fishing gear, are finding their way into the ocean, creating a threat of entanglement or ingestion for countless marine animals. The ocean is calling out to us for protection, and we all have a part to play in shielding and serving the ocean habitat from harm. To give everyone a better understanding of ocean sustainability knowledge, we created this Ocean Server game.

What it does

The player can use arrows to control the directions of the Ocean Server. The Ocean Server has to clean all trash and find a path back to the submarine. When encountering trash, the server must answer a question and learn about the mysterious ocean.

How we built it

After doing research about the ocean, we came up with the ideas of designing a game, to gather more people to participate in protecting the ocean. We used html/css and Javascript to generate a maze for our ocean server.

Challenges we ran into

We implemented the depth-first algorithm - that we have just learned in class a few weeks ago - to generate the random maze.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully designing and creating the Ocean Protector game.

What we learned

We've mastered a completely new language Javascript and become more proficient in the use of html/css.

What's next for Ocean Server

We will continue to update and improve our Ocean Server, such as building a ranking system, seting up limited time, adding various tasks, and etc.
