Inspiration

Traditional social media is draining and toxic for mental health. Posts are optimized for engagement by hijacking extreme emotions. In the halcyon days of social media, the technology promised us a way to collectively share experience and memory. [[Nost]]algia for those bygone days and optimistic possibilities lie at the heart of this project.

What it does

Nost is a collaborative medium for memory, weaving experiences across time, space and emotions. User enter a memory, either through text or voice and can filter through past memories based on their time, place or emotion.

How we built it

We created an app using react-native for the front-end. We created our backend in django, using SQLite for the database and a RESTful API.

Challenges we ran into

React-native was a little foreign to us, since we are more familiar with React JS. Understanding components, and integrating it with the backend was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to create a functional app in this short amount of time is something we are proud of. We ran into a bunch of authentication problems and

What we learned

We learned and practiced the scrum methodology. The AssemblyAI was our main focus, and it was fascinating to learn how to integrate it with our stack.

What's next for Nost

The next step for Nost would be polishing the UI as well as adding features to connect people together. And eventually, we hope to deploy this onto the App store.
