Inspiration
While brainstorming with our mentor, we eventually came to a conclusion that our topic would be related to health. We took a team member's interest and eventually came up with MyExercise.
What it does
It recognizes photos of gym equipment and provides proper instructions depending on body parts that the user wants to train.
How we built it
We trained the program to recognize gym equipment using about 150 photos for each type. Then we started with making an android phone open the gallery and import the image from it. Then we used image recognition to recognize the equipment. Then, based on the muscle group that the user chose, it will give links for exercises.
Challenges we ran into
We used the API that is smarter than us. 4 out of 5 engineers have no idea how to use the Android Studio. There was a lack of time. The first hackathon experience. Image recognition was tough to understand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Teamwork. Image recognition. Getting image input. Creating a library for equipment and exercises.
What we learned
Android Studio. Working ambitiously. ML-kit.
What's next for MyExercise
Working code. Extended library. Additional features (calorie counter, workout programmer). Release date 2026.
