Inspiration
Filing taxes is often a frustrating and confusing process, filled with dense government documents and complex calculations. We wanted to create a solution that simplifies this process while making it more engaging. Inspired by the idea of turning information into music, we developed MuseFiler, a tool that not only processes your tax documents but also generates a personalized song to guide you through the necessary steps.
What it does
MuseFiler automates the tax filing process by analyzing government documents, extracting relevant information, and pre-filling forms for users. Additionally, it generates a custom song that provides a musical breakdown of what needs to be filled out, ensuring users stay informed in an entertaining and memorable way.
How we built it
- OCR & NLP: We use optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from government documents and natural language processing (NLP) to interpret and categorize the information.
- Tax Form Automation: A backend engine maps extracted data to the appropriate tax forms, pre-filling sections and highlighting missing inputs.
- AI-Generated Music: Using machine learning models, we generate a custom song based on the extracted tax data, with lyrics explaining what the user needs to complete.
- User Interface: A web-based dashboard allows users to upload documents, review pre-filled forms, and listen to their tax guide song.
Challenges we ran into
- Complex Tax Rules: Mapping extracted data to the correct tax forms required a deep understanding of tax regulations.
- Accurate Data Extraction: OCR struggled with handwritten or poorly formatted documents, requiring fine-tuning.
- Generating Meaningful Songs: Ensuring the AI-generated lyrics were both informative and catchy was a creative and technical challenge.
