Inspiration
We were inspired by Tamagotchi, where you take care of your own pet. We combined this with the goal of encouraging productivity and academic enrichment to support users in doing their assignments.
What it does
Users input their assignments, and their virtual pet kitten gets happier when more assignments are completed and sadder when less assignments are completed.
How we built it
We built our web app using Next.js, Express.js, and Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
Since it was our first hackathon, we faced challenges with connecting our frontend and backend and supplying data from one to the other.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to complete almost all of the features we aimed to implement, especially for all of our first hackathons. We are also proud of having a smooth work pipeline throughout the process as we completed a Figma design very early in the hackathon.
What we learned
We learned to prioritize getting the bare minimum implemented before adding additional features. We also learned more about creating clean, reusable, and maintainable code in a short period of time.
What's next for Meowtivation
We plan to add more customizable options for pets instead of just the currently available options for the one kitten and its four moods.
