Inspiration
My inspiration came from witnessing a surge in cyber attacks, specifically through malicious file uploads. I realized that many systems lacked proper security measures against such threats, sparking the idea of MalScan.
What it does
MalScan identifies and prevents malicious file uploads in real-time. It utilizes Pangea's File Intel, providing an advanced level of security and protection against potential cyber threats.
How we built it
I developed MalScan using Python, integrating it with Pangea's File Intel API for real-time threat detection.
Challenges we ran into
The primary challenge was adopting and training a machine learning model to identify a vast array of malware types accurately. Additionally, ensuring seamless integration with Pangea's File Intel posed some hurdles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully integrating Pangea's File Intel with our tool was a major accomplishment. Not only did we achieve real-time detection, but we also managed to minimize false positives significantly.
What we learned
We learned about advanced threat detection techniques, machine learning model training, and API integration. This project reaffirmed the importance of cybersecurity in today's digital age.
What's next for MalScan
We plan on enhancing MalScan by integrating additional threat detection mechanisms and refining the machine learning models. We also aim to make MalScan a universally compatible tool for a broader range of systems.
